^ The 3-day rolling average is up over 1,000 new deaths a day. Cases are around the 150,000 mark - but the deaths are, as you say, driven by casse numbers a couple of weeks ago. The actual position is that, roughly speaking, deaths are running at about 1% of total cases at the moment. Given that the US CDCs assessed the original version of the virus as having a death rate around 0.25% after it had been abroad in the States for a long time, that's hardly an indication that the Delta variant of the disease is less deadly.

In any event, the problem with letting cases rage like that is that, eventually, there will be significant mutations that have the potential to do very much more harm. The Delta variant will send a message to the unvaccinated - but it's the variant that can dodge the vaccines that we need to worry about. If it isn't sorted world-wide, rather than just in Australia, it will likely turn very badly for all of us, in due course.

vaccines freely available, people can choose to get vaccinated or not, wear a mask or not, completely up to them.

Meanwhile they're getting 150,000 cases a week. 95% of the people in hospital aren't vaccinated. It's like a Darwinian experiment, just open up and let the dumb ones die.
With Labor in Charge of most States that won't happen.

Though I bet Glady wish she could do that

"Pleasingly, reopening did not lead to a spike in reported coronavirus cases. In fact, there was a drop in the days after Freedom Day that left epidemiologists scratching their heads."

Pretty much spot on. The zero strategy kills the virus and kills everything else too - economy, mental health, family, lives, hope etc.

No they weren't. They're only about 60% fully vaccinated at the moment.

Freedom Day occurred when the UK was 53% fully vaccinated among the entire population. I do acknowledge the one benefit they have is much higher natural immunity compared to Australia.

So why does England had more Natural Immunity?

Guess because they let Covid get around instead of Hiding People from it

^ The virus is circulating in the community and they never aimed for zero-Covid.

Covid will not be eliminated. The sooner Australians accept this reality, the sooner we can start adapting and learn to live with it.

Vaccination will help mitigate the worst aspects of this virus.
