Board coup
I was one of the people who signed that petition.
I am surprised that with the enormous supporter base that we have, and there are some high profile people in it, e.g. John Bertrand, no one else has put their hand up an another alternative ti Browne's ticket.
Whilst I feel this current board allowed too many poor decisions to play out, I am under no illusion that when Eddie was president{I did love him}, what Eddie WANTS, EDDIE GETS...
I can imagine it would be hard to stand up against him..
But in the end they bowed to public pressure didn't they. it was a humiliating way to end his career..
And then the way the SACKED Nathan Buckley after he had been supportive of the board, well it just was a disgrace. Once again, done for political reasons.
Honestly, what difference would it have made to let him see out the season, like Clarkson.
We all saw in Buck's last game that the players were prepared to put in the effort.
I am so disillusioned with my club that I fear I am losing my passion.
I love my boys and want to keep supporting them .
I have always gone to the games and these last two years , I have missed beignet the footy and sharing the highs and lows with my fellow pies fans.
Don't know whats next.
I just hope the young players will bring this passion back.

Umm... Rudey, have you already applied for and been granted permission to leave the country?! Obviously you have good reasons to leave but can you be sure they'll let you out?RudeBoy wrote:...
The problem for me is that the timing ain't great, as I will be overseas for the first 6 months of next year. While I'm sure a board member could attend meetings via zoom, it would be less than ideal.
So let's see what pans out over the next few months leading up to our December AGM.

I would have signed the petition if there was no sign of McGuire and Buckley leaving. Those two needed to fall on their swords after a decade of gradual deterioration on their watch, which has culminated in what we're seeing today.
Don't have any real love for the current board, but I think the fact people will be engaged in the electoral process in the upcoming AGM can only be a good thing going forward.

I don't understand how Buckley is at fault. He built a side capabe of winning a flag, missing piece was obviously a forward.Jezza wrote:Love your passion, but I see things a little differently to you.orie wrote:I was one of the people who signed that petition.

Not only did the club not deliver on providing this they stripped away senior players, mismanaged player payments and continued to embarrass its brand with non football related issues.
Any other coach would have slapped the board on the way out.

As for Eddie, well.....enough said

Not at fault for salary cap mismanagement, but at fault for constructing a poor game plan, poor man management (i.e. his handling around Treloar's departure) and not rating certain types of players (i.e. key forwards).themonk wrote:I don't understand how Buckley is at fault. 10 years without a flag and a rebuild ahead of us is too long for any coach.
The club was crying out for a refresh in the coaching ranks.

Scomo ain’t letting anyone leave Australia so you will be available to join me on the new BoardRudeBoy wrote:Thanks Lazza.
To be honest, I've been seriously considering standing for the Board for a while now, as I think there are far too many corporate types with their own business agendas at play on our Board. I mean, FFS, they aren't even all Collingwood supporters!

I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

However, Bucks prtected the club and took the hit for Treloar & let's not forget it was a depleted side that fell 1 kick short in 2018, we played attacking football then.
Also, when a key forward was available (& a pies fan) we couldn't fit him in.
Would we have won the flag in 2019 if Lynch came? we'll never know.

2018 was clearly the standout year in the Buckley years, and a very enjoyable one as a supporter.

The board issue needs to be addressed before a new coach is appointed. If the current board wants John Smith and the opposing group wants John Brown. The is a problem if John Smith is appointed and the current board is dumped then the support for the coach has disappeared. This is a cluster waiting to happen.
The "Board issue" needs to be resolved, now. I am now very, very angry about the politicking. I am rapidly reaching the view that neither the Board nor the would-be alternative ticket has any interest in getting on with the actual business of getting a new coach and sorting out the issues that need to be dealt with in the administration.
I normally could not care less who runs the Club but if this rubbish costs us a good coaching appointment, they know where they can all go.

^ You'd hope - but until they do so publicly, it's going to be a source of concern for any prospective coach. No-one wants to start knowing that they might not have the support of a new board that could be elected in a month. Obviously, in a democratic process, that can happen - but, here, it's actually being foreshadowed.

I hope so as well. In saying that we have people with egos and want to be seen as the new beginning. Personally, there are enough signatures for an EGM and it should be done. The BS going to the Supreme Court for a decision and now mediation is farcical. If you think you have the members on board, call an election. I would suggest they don't want an election as the possibility is they would lose.WhyPhilWhy? wrote:Surely both sides could agree that the recommendation of the well-credentialed selection committee would be acceptable.
