The petition is invalid, because it was incorrectly worded.Culprit wrote:I hope so as well. In saying that we have people with egos and want to be seen as the new beginning. Personally, there are enough signatures for an EGM and it should be done. The BS going to the Supreme Court for a decision and now mediation is farcical. If you think you have the members on board, call an election. I would suggest they don't want an election as the possibility is they would lose.WhyPhilWhy? wrote:Surely both sides could agree that the recommendation of the well-credentialed selection committee would be acceptable.
I doubt they have a mandate now. Most supporters are sick of the bickering.

Looks like the Browne camp will start communicating with voting members soon.
The club has been told to hand over the register of members to Francis Galbally by August 30.

Right outcome ... Need a refurbished committee with transparency and a clear vision plan with ongoing member input. Hopefully all nominees can have a say in coach selection.slangman wrote:Fantastic news.
Now we can all proceed to the AGM and put the vote to the members.
Once the 100 signatures have been obtained is when I expect both sides to communicate their mandates.

Agree with you on the idea that undertaking an election will be good for the club long term.robevpau1 wrote:Right outcome ... Need a refurbished committee with transparency and a clear vision plan with ongoing member input. Hopefully all nominees can have a say in coach selection.
Disagree that nominees should be having a say on the coaching selection.

If the currently elected Board are responsible for the selection of a new Coach - and some are not re-elected - the new Coach may feel that (s)he does not have the full support of a majority of a newly-elected Board. Where is the ongoing stability in that? If all nominees are involved, we will at least know that a majority voted for the new appointee Coach. We obviously cannot wait till December to appoint a new Coach - but we also don't won't to discover that they may not have the majority backing of the new Board.Jezza wrote:Agree with you on the idea that undertaking an election will be good for the club long term.robevpau1 wrote:Right outcome ... The only other contender is Jeff Browne. I think he insinuated that he supports the process and coaching sub-committee.
Hard to argue with the quality of the members of the sub-committee. From all reports the process has been thorough. Most of us seem happy with, say, a McCrae appointment.
So for all the talk of disarray and disfunction of the Board - the process has been followed, no leaks, and I assume a coach selected and about to be announced - we have navigated this period pretty well.
As Carlton just sacked their coach and someone on the radio just called in and said he was collection signatures to spill the Board... (is there this one person who steps in for all Board spills... he was saying the same things as many Collingwood supporters).
Anyway - the coach will be selected. The football department will be re-stocked. The players will get on with it.
The Board matter now goes to the AGM, as it should - have a stoush by all means, choose the best qualified... but once it is all over stand side by side (sorry it sort of fitted so had to use it).

Yep!RudeBoy wrote:Whatever composition our new Board is made up of, I just hope that they commit themselves to a lot more honesty and transparency. I fear that there are too many corporate types, who come from a bullying culture. The spirit and culture of our club needs to be re-built from the ground up.
