No they don't. They only work if you have ZERO movement. With deliveries and transport, delta will spread. FACT!!stui magpie wrote:Lockdowns only work against Delta if you have people do what they're told. Having a stage 4 lockdown in Vic isn't working right now, the virus got loose in NSW because people ignored the restrictions same as what's happening here.Pies4shaw wrote:^^^^^ Lockdowns don't work against Delta in NSW because the place in run by morons who waited way too long to lock down - they made the mistake of thinking they were much cleverer than they actually are. Lockdowns do work in Qld, Victoria, SA, the NT and WA, so far. No one likes them.
No one thinks lockdowns are a good idea. What we have to do is get much, much more of the population vaccinated - as to which, see my earlier post concerning the favourable recent experience in Denmark.

Yeah well Dan had a serious chubby in his Chinos not long back when he was lecturing Gladys about using a "Ring of Steel" and bragging about how he'd personally conquered Delta twice. Now he's lecturing at people who don't watch his press conferences telling them they're selfish.
If this clown gets re-elected (and it's entirely probable given the rusted on stupids) watch the population (and collective IQ) decrease.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

208 days and counting in lockdown. Just surpassed London and only have Buenos Aires to beat.
Six lockdowns since March last year.
The day we went into lockdown #6 (August 5) we recorded 7 cases. Currently our 7-day average for daily cases is 63 with that number rising every day.
Lockdowns don't work against Delta.

Labor will get back in because the Liberals are ineffectual.stui magpie wrote:^

If there was a decent opposition it would be a different story.
If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome
The 132,000 extra dead in the UK and their families wouldn't complain about Dan and his lock down record.
Honestly the lack of perspective from some of you and the constant whinging is mind blowing.
Honestly it shouldn't be that hard to understand.
We're in the midst of a world pandemic and dealing with an enemy that is invisible, silent and odourless.
It's bloody difficult and dangerous work.

At the risk of looking, for the second time in a day, at some significant data, the problem in the "vaccine rollout", at the moment, is that Australia has about 62% of the population aged 75+ doubled-vaccinated, 58% of those aged 70-74 - but then then numbers drop dramatically. Under 45% of people 65-69, just 39% of people aged 60-64, around about 40% (some slightly up, some slightly lower) aged between 40 and 59 but well under 20% of each of the the younger age groups.
We are a very long way from being in a position to open up the country without killing many people - many at-risk people haven't even had the opportunity to have the vaccine, yet because there has been so little supply - it hasn't generally been available to people under 40 until recently.
Only a bunch of complete lunatics would look to end lockdowns at the present stage of the vaccination program.
The message from overseas is clear. Countries with moderate rates of vaccination - but better than ours - are still suffering dismally. In the UK, cases are still ramping up and deaths are now at 110 per day for the last 7 days (and up 15% week on week). The experience is the same in the US, only moreso - 1,000 deaths a day (up 9%, week on week). Countries with better vaccination coverage are doing better - that's what we have to aim for. It isn't optional. It might make good politics for conservatives to take a different approach but it would be disastrous science. There are so many numbers from all over the world - we should learn from them.

It's funny how the Cult of Dan always looks overseas, never want to compare him to other premiers in Australia, why is that?swoop42 wrote:The 132,000 extra dead in the UK and their families wouldn't complain about Dan and his lock down record.
