Anyone can pretty much see that Victoria be in Lockdown until we at least hit 70% Vaccination which it the start of Easing LockdownsWhat'sinaname wrote:Lockdown extension confirmed by Jeroen. His is already conditioning us for that so that when it is formally announced it's no surprise.
So that's a min of 4 weeks of lockdown 6.

So Glady has come out and Admited she F**ked up yet or is she still trying to make it sound like everything is okay?stui magpie wrote:Just wanted to add to this, the other things that shit me about Andrews is he is a liar, a braggart and utterly determined to deflect blame and responsibility.stui magpie wrote:Some people don't like the winging, fair enough. I can't cop people saying that Dan has done a good job.
Dan is clearly the worst performed Premier in regard to Covid in the country. Yes, he managed to get the state back to zero cases after locking the state down for months and stopping international arrivals. No other state until now in NSW let it get out of hand in the first place. Melbourne is the second most locked down jurisdiction in the world and has 82% of the Australian Covid Deaths. No other state in Australia has had to endure what we have had to.
Anyone who wants to defend him answer this question. If you could have lived and worked in any city in Australia during 2020, would you have chosen Melbourne?
As far as Gladys and NSW goes, yep, she fcucked up but had every right to try to do it her way, she had the runs on the board. Even now it's supposedly out of control, she's running a different strategy.
When wild and uncontrolled, the Delta variant as a reproduction number of between 5 and 9, meaning each person who gets it infects between 5 and 9 people. NSW has it at around 1.3. You need to get that number below 1 for the case number to start going down, but that's not her aim, she's now in containment mode, stopping it from going wild, and focusing on Vaccinations. vaccinations clearly work when you compare case numbers and death rates between NSW and Victoria. Once enough people are vaccinated, you start rolling back restrictions.
Only a few weeks ago he's up at press conferences bagging Gladys and telling her to put in place a "ring of steel" like he did, crediting it for keeping regional Vic safe when he knows damn well the only impact it had was to tie up massive amounts of Police resource. 48 hours later- we're back in lockdown.
A few months ago he's bragging that Victoria was the only jurisdiction to have defeated Delta twice, a lie. 48 hours later we're back in lockdown.
earlier in the year he's bragging how great our contact tracing now was (a lie) and how other states should copy ours, 48 hours later we're back in lockdown.
The cnut drinks his own bathwater
Not saying that Thing been Defiantly Better IF she did the Right Thing but Chances are we be in better Spot is quite good
I try not to follow it too much as makes me Very Anxious and Very Down

^ Will probably be much longer, given that, in Victoria:
92 new local cases and 1 new case acquired overseas (currently in HQ).
- 31,436 vaccine doses were administered
- 51,030 test results were received
Of the 92 locally-acquired cases, 61 have so far been linked to existing cases and outbreaks. Further case information will be provided this morning

From the ABC blog:
Drive through testing site in Sydney's west target of possible arson attack
A drive through COVID testing site in Sydney's west has been the target of a possible arson attack.
The demountable building was burnt out before firefighters arrived.
Walls at the location were also sprayed with graffiti including "take back the power" and "COVID equals lies".
The fire was extinguished and police have established a crime scene and are investigating the matter.

From The Age's blog:
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews also said he did not want “thousands of extra doses” of vaccine flowing to NSW unfairly when there was need in other states.
He confirmed he had a “very productive” conversation on Saturday with Prime Minister Scott Morrison to ensure NSW did not receive any preferential treatment.
He said the country could not see “hundreds of thousands of extra doses pouring into Sydney at the expense of every other part of our nation”.
“I’m very keen to make sure that we don’t see anything other than a proper proportional distribution of any additional vaccines, and the Prime Minister has given me that commitment,” he said.
“You can’t ignore the fact that New South Wales has received significant additional support. We don’t begrudge them that.
“But we are now in a set of rules here in Victoria, with case numbers too high to be able to safely open up, and that means that we have many challenges as well. It is only fair that we distribute vaccines based on our population share and need.
The Victorian Premier's more specific view: "It's also not a national plan for picnics, just quietly. The notion of giving up vaccine that could have been in Victorians' arms, so that people in other States can go and have picnics .... No, that's not what we're doing".
Meanwhile, 600 of the 773 active Victorian cases are under 40. This, from the ABC blog:

Victoria's Jeroen Weimar says virus is active among the young in the community
COVID-19 Commander, Jeroen Weimar says the age profile of the positive cases continues to be very young.
“We have 300 people under the age of 20 in our 773 active cases,” he says.
“So 171 people under the age of 10, and 131 in their teens, between 10 and 19. Similarly, we have 300 people between the ages of 20 and 39.”
H says the vast majority of cases continue to be among the younger members of the society.
“I particularly appeal to those people in their 20s and 30s, this virus is very active in your age group at this point in time,” he says.
“Please be mindful of any symptoms you have and any contact to exposure sites you may have.”

This study demonstrated that natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, compared to the BNT162b2 two-dose vaccine-induced immunity. Individuals who were both previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and given a single dose of the vaccine gained additional protection against the Delta variant.
