Korda is VERY well connected.

Not so much on the personality / superficial level of Eddie, but I reckon he has "quiet" access to many more, very well connected board members who wouldn't give a "spiv" like Ed the time of day (not my opinion of Ed).

Korda is no fool and would make a superb president longer term.

I commented before about how he and Anderson gave a funeral like announcement today but I said that bc the fanfare and hype wasnt there, which I miss. However I dont know enough about Korda and how influential he could be. Ill have to read up a bit on him.

Plenty of people aren't fools, but are they the right person for a particular role? To determine that you need a lot more information than is available at present.

He might not be a fool in his profession but he is not a very good football club president.

If he can’t do the basics like knowing that Licca isn’t a 2010 premiership player or that we beat West Coast NOT Western Australia last year then I have little faith that he is the person for the job.
There are plenty of others better suited for the role of president and one of them is already on the board….Peter Murphy.

I’m sure he will in due course but I don’t recall Korda announcing his ticket or platform either.

There was a “power” struggle between Korda and Murphy after Eddie’s departure and unfortunately the wrong man won.

Like it or not, Korda is the incumbent, as he had the support of the majority of the board over Murphy at that time. So the onus is on Murphy to change that

Don't know Korda personally, so really entitled to an opinion on him.
Observing his body language though, and listening to the way he spoke yesterday, he looked defeated and didn't want to promote himself when presented with the opportunity.

This may well be his normal approach to things, but I didn't feel comfortable watching him respond to fairly straightforward questions.

When asked if he wanted to remain president he deflected to the members having a vote at the EGM.

I just wonder how much of the angst toward the board is centered around Korda specifically, rather than on other issues.
I reckon angst has been building for a long time over stuff like voting. Korda resigning won't diffuse that.
To me it's not about whether Korda stays or goes, but the system that he's inherited and seems intent on persisting with. Basically, there needs to be a democratic members' vote on board positions, and that needs to be instituted as a regular thing (whether that's annually or once every few years) going forward.

Like it or not, Browne will be our next President, not Murphy.

Not if I can help it. I'd vote Murphy ahead of Korda but Browne ahead of nobody.

I certainly wasn't endorsing Browne, but making a prediction of what I suspect will be agreed to between the current board and Browne. All in all there's way too many smarmy corporate types on the board already, without adding another, but dem's da breaks.
