Yep, strange to think the young should have had first crack at vaccines before the people who actually needed them…

I do agree with year 12 kids getting them as clearly they have to get together to sit their exams.

Didn't every country prioritise the oldest and most vulnerable to be first to get the vaccine?
I don't get it either.

Either way, I am sure ScoMo or Gladys is to blame.

I'm not making some political point - it was just always stupid to assume that the virus wouldn't ever be problematic for young people. Now they've realized quite how stupid that was, young people are waiting ages to get the vaccine that is suitable for them and being forced to take one that we all know is unsuitable because the alternative is too dangerous to contemplate.

Was nice to see people at the beach yesterday. I hope they don't get all nanny state and stop people going to the beach.

I get not going to the beach when you are targetting zero, but now, it's about stopping indoor transmission (workplaces and homes). Surely the low risk of outdoor transmission doesn't outweigh the mental benefits of being outside and at the beach.

No it made more sense to protect the vulnerable first. But AZ has a 1 in a hundred thousand chance of a blood clot but 1 in a million chance if death. So is Covid a greater risk to younger people than the vaccine? If not then what’s the rush?

Pfizer also has potential serious side effects and someone died of it in NZ the other day.

But I think the death toll in NSW compared to Victoria clearly shows the strategy was the right one.

Disagree. The Alpha strain killed old people and barely impacted younger people. The death rates by age are clear on that. Therefore it made total sense to get the most vulnerable vaccinated first.

Delta is killing younger people far more than Alpha did, but the death rate is low compared to Victoria's second wave last year which demonstrates the success of that strategy by having a high number of older people vaccinated first.

Claiming that one vaccine is unsuitable for younger people is also incorrect and a dangerous statement. Both vaccines available offer far greater protection at far less risk of death than catching Covid unvaccinated.

We have had a tiny few number of cases of outdoor transmission, all of those to my knowledge in crowd situations.

People laying on a beach 3 metres from another person is more likely to be struck by a meteorite than catching covid .

Lockdowns may be essential in restricting infections while vaccinations ramp up, but compliance with stupid rules is rapidly declining as people are sick of it.

That is an excellent number when you have 1.2 million infections, compred to pre-vaccination, they were running at 1,800 deaths per day while in lockdown.

So if we're running at 300,000 infections with balanced COVID restrictions (not the UK freedom), we could be running at about 15-30 deaths per day.

And it appears Dan has given up on the lecturing phase of his masterplan with no attacks today that I saw. Hell he was even saying I agree with the NSW Premier and I agree with the PM...

As for old v young, or could it simply be that Delta is affecting the young in far greater numbers because the elderly are already vaccinated?

If the elderly weren't vaccinated we'd possibly be at 3-5,000 daily cases and hundreds of deaths in this current outbreak!
