Things don't look too promising for playing a grand final.

If lockdown is extended (as suggested) for another 2 weeks then there may be no choice but to call it off.

It'll be an interesting call.

The VFLW would be wishing they could go back in time and start the finals a week earlier.

Or put up a harder fight to play the PF and the GF during the start of lockdown.

It's getting to the point where they must just award the premiership to the top-ranked team because it will be impossible to have a fair contest between 2 reasonably fit teams.

agree there pies4shaw award the premiership to the pies its getting too long a break between last matches too some of the players must be thinking of the off season by now.

So disappointed for the girls.
After such a great season, surely they deserve the premiership.
I do believe they are undefeated.
That is undisputed and surely it makes sense to award it to them in these exceptional circumstances.

If the teams came back to play a GF, we could find unfit players getting injuries as well. It would be so compromised.
Hoping the girls are rewarded for a stellar year.

To long between matches is my fear the players wont be match fit at all and really far too long a wait too. Also likely be played in front of no crowds too.

Cancel the gf and award the cup to the Pies.

If AFL games were allowed to go ahead, then the VFLW GF should have been played weeks ago.

And why not at Marvel? or even the MCG? It could have been arranged.

Methinks its not going to be played the GF. Lockdown to be extended again another week.

VFL officially cancelled.

However they have committed to playing the VFLW GF at some point.

Very strange for the girls.

It's getting embarrassing, now. Our team is on a hiding to nothing - undefeated all season but the AFL still wants them to play off for the premiership, even though they haven't been on the field for months.

Grand final was originally scheduled for 8 August.
Is now more than 4 weeks since either team has played.

I don't think it is feasible to play the GF now. There is no way either team would have been able to maintain the required fitness levels & there is too much chance of injury. Match fitness & skill level would also be diminished.

The only reason they are clinging onto the idea of playing the GF is they do not want to award the premiership based on ladder position.

^ Yes, of course they don't. They're hoping against hope that they can create a chance that a team other than Collingwood might win.
