WTF is going on? So now Korda is stepping down? In 2022... when in 2022 is that?

Korda or Browne, it's got nothing to with some trite notion of 'business background' people who have never been in business at a serious level keep crapping on about.

Neither candidate has been transparent enough to assess with any proper diligence throughout this current mess. But correct me if I'm wrong, Korda has been on the board since 2007, so his track record includes the very mess the club is in.

And that is a monstrous difference between Korda and Browne, and something we do know about Korda.

The job for members now is to turf out any comers, including Korda (in the members' time, not his) and Browne, who fail to be open and communicative, and fail to walk through their plans and approach, and fail to grasp that doing so is a mandatory requirement of leading this type of organisation in the current bloody century.

Hear hear. Although Korda is the incumbent, if he wants to stay there and depart on his own terms, this still applies. And if Browne or Murphy want to replace him, now or later, goes double for them. Not more backroom deals which is what got us where we are today

The letter to the members from Korda sounds like a job well done and to put a succession plan in place is sound management. He has also seen us have a small operating profit in these challenging times, so thats a big tick.
Just hope the directors to be, put up some worthy credentials for us to scrutinise and mull over.

This is my current understanding of it, but happy to be corrected on any points.

Voting members roughly make up 13,000 of the 82,000 members. My understanding is a voting member is defined as someone who currently has a social club membership, which includes Club 5 and Legends among others.

At the moment, 4 board positions will be up for re-election in this upcoming AGM (Murphy, Holgate, O'Donnell and Wilson), which will be held on Thursday, December 16.

However, the Browne camp will seek to spill the entire board when the AGM occurs by getting a petition started. This petition requires the signatures of 100 members which isn't a high threshold to reach, so it's very attainable.

Once the 100 signatures requirement is fulfilled, all the board positions will be spilled and an election occurs for all 7 board positions.

I would assume someone independent of the club such as the Victorian Electoral Commission would be involved to ensure the electoral process is free from any corruption and/or rigging.

I'm unsure whether Browne plans to present his ticket and platform on the night itself or whether he'll start contacting members in the coming weeks and months.

It was reported last week that the club and Francis Galbally engaged in mediation which was resolved with the agreement that the club was to hand over the register of members to Galbally by Monday, August 30. In return, Galbally is subject to strict conditions and guidelines on how he utilises the register under section 177 Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

Galbally also said previously he wanted the register in order to contact voting members to outline his concerns about the club's corporate governance and to encourage members to support Jeff Browne's push for the presidency.

The members elect the board, the board elects the president (from amongst themselves). So, the members don't vote directly for the president, but given the current state of affairs, there should be an understanding that voting for board member X is going to result in them voting for president Y - which makes it all the more important that people like Browne and Murphy communicate their position to the members well in advance of the AGM
