Possibly the silliest statement I have read in 13 years on Nicks.
Possibly the silliest board/VP appointment in the club’s history.
You need to look at the New Magpies and also at some of the yes people that Eddie put on the board, some of whom almost certainly had as little historic connection to Collingwood as Bridie O'Donnell.
The silly part is saying that you would change your allegiance if the wrong person is elected to the committee. The committee isn't the club. If you are enough committed to Collingwood to post on Nicks you are not going to leave over one position on the committee. So why make a stupid rhetorical statement that no one believes anyway?
Take a chill pill, you’re making a mountain out of a molehill. I was being facetious, and I’m pretty sure you know what that means. Say hi to Bridie for me.
There are now two board positions that stink, and they’ve only come to light due to the review, Eddie moving on, and member pressure for transparency.
It is a given that Bridie will not get elected to the Board.
Nevertheless she is an impressive person.
O'Donnell is a world champion road cyclist, a former rower, and triathlete.
She is also a medical doctor, graduating valedictorian from the University of Queensland, and now focuses on helping cancer patients with behavioural changes to help improve their overall wellbeing. She is the inaugural director of Victoria's Office for Women in Sport and Recreation.
What's the story with Neil Wilson, everything is paywalled... has he also not been a member for the last 24 months, like O'Donnell? According to his bio on the club website he's a lifelong Pies fan https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/club/b ... eil-wilson

He is a MCC member with Collingwood club support instead of being a Collingwood voting member (Club 5, Legends).
It means that he does not meet the criteria to sit on the board as he is a MCC member not a Collingwood member.
I think it's not that he can't sit on the board, but he has to be elected at the AGM, when the prerequisite of 24 months preceding membership is waived

FWIW, I think the Wilson issue has sealed Korda's fate. The media will portray it as an eligiblity issue even though the AGM has been used many times to dispense with the eligibility requirements under the Constitution.
Thank you for clarifying.
You're correct on the dispensing of the eligibility requirements through an AGM which was happening under McGuire's presidency. You would be naive to think this has only started happening now.
Ideally, I'd prefer candidates that fulfilled the eligibility requirements in the first place. In essence, it's just another own goal for the current board which will benefit Browne's desire to become president, which I think is likely to happen now whether it be through an election or a handover.
Makes perfect sense. The sooner this crap is sorted out the better for everyone connected with Collingwood and get to starting that new chapter.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

I think you’ll find he is a Collingwood member but not a Club 5, Legends member for the obvious reason that he will be sitting in the MCC members stand or in a Collingwood corporate box at the MCG. Seriously is there anything wrong with that? The problem isn’t to do with anything Neil Wilson has done. The problem is with the restrictive Collingwood membership rules.
Half of me wants this to be unresolved at the time we convene for the AGM in December so that I can let the board know what an embarrassing rabble they are, writ large by the breathtaking farce that is the O’Donnell appointment.
To be clear, I think the Browne push has done nothing but further destabilise the place and, let’s face it, none of us actually know what he stands for other than perhaps power for power’s sake.
So right now we have a disjointedly unprofessional board who have ignored the rights and concerns of it membership for over 20 years on the one hand, and an alternative who is yet to outline any plans to improve those very same concerns on the other.
But something has got to give. This amateurish, navel-gazing circus has got to stop.
What you need to do is reform the board to get it back to what it was before Eddie turned it into a corporate dominated elitist vehicle for the rich. That was ok when the club was broke and needed an injection of corporate money but to do it at the expense of the bread and butter Collingwood supporters who pay their hard earned membership money each year is where it all went wrong.
