Seriously? Victorians (and other states) have a right to be shitty with NSW getting more than their fair share at the expense of our constituents.

Don't agree. NSW got extra out of the new allocation which was not at the expense of other states, and had some extra small numbers temporarily diverted. Victoria's GP hob is increasing from next week so it will balance out.

Really? I could see this coming from a mile away. You had the PM saying we need to open up at 70%, one state saying we will open up at 70% and every other state saying, get stuffed, we wont open up. What did anyone think would happen?

There is Pfizer and AZ available in Vic at both state hubs and GP's, if they want to get vaccinated make an appointment to do it. They may have to wait a bit longer if they want Pfizer, so they'll have a choice to make.

Yeah, nah. I'm very, very angry with people who have been trying to score political points by talking about vaccination rates. You know full well that the vaccines weren't even available to people in their age-group until relatively recently - and the advice continues to be that they should get Pfizer. Why should they take the risk with a product that isn't recommended for them merely because the one that is recommended for their demographic has been pork-barreled into a different jurisdiction? No reason at all.

I've had it with people politicizing the numbers. And I've had it with the temerity of people telling me what my family should and shouldn't do. We just follow the health advice, as best we can.

i absolutely agree with this, one daughter is getting pfizer thursday, the other will as soon as uni is over, and placement finished, and i fully expect a pfizer to be available to her.

i still say they keep changing the AZ rules simply because they bought too many and dont want to waste them.

Turning down any vaccine - and AstraZeneca is the world's most widely used one - may seem remarkable to other nations still battling rampant Covid.

But Australia is one of the few nations where the virus has never truly taken hold. So for many locals, even amid new outbreaks in Sydney and Melbourne, the risk of catching Covid is seen as lower than developing a rare blood clot.

23 year old who decided to get the AZ shot. Yes at the time Pfizer wasn't an option but still assessed the risks and made a conscious informed decision.

Look the powers that be stuffed up big time with AZ, they kept changing their minds about who should or shouldnt have it, so what do you expect? people are already mind $@&^# by this world wide pandemic, then a vaccine seamingly comes out of nowhere, and yes i know it didnt, but a lot of people still think it did.

and by the way, that article is a month old, and pfizer is now available. I had actually booked my daughter in to see our doctor as she has had a couple of weird health issues and i did not want her to have az, so i wanted to discuss it with the doc, then bang 2 days later, she can get pfizer so we cancelled the appointment and she gets her shot on thursday. junior will get hers soon too. as for the by christmas thats bullshit, the gap is now 6-8 weeks.

personally i think instead of wasting time trying to push people toward az when they can and will get pfizer, spend that time convincing the anti vaccers to get anything. my best friend is carrying on like a pork chop, hates lockdown, and ive told her a million times, i did it firstly because the second i can fly away, i want to!

In Victoria:

Reported yesterday: 221 new local cases and 0 new cases acquired overseas.
- 36,716 vaccine doses were administered
- 42,429 test results were received

Of the 221 local cases, 98 have so far been linked to known cases and outbreaks. Further case information will be provided this morning.

^ I agree, save that it's a public health problem and immunisation doesn't equal full protection but does reduce the risk of transmission substantially, so the more people who are vaccinated, the less virus will circulate. So, whether we care about anti-vax numpties or not, we want their number to be as low as possible because their conduct impacts the rest of us.

Meanwhile, NSW Health says that:

NSW recorded 1,480 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

The total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 37,535. Sadly, NSW Health has been notified of the deaths of nine people who had COVID-19.

There have been 148 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 204 in total since the start of the pandemic.

There are currently 1,136 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 194 people in intensive care, 78 of whom require ventilation.

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has provided a breakdown of the case numbers in regional NSW.

In the Western New South Wales local health district, there were 27 new cases. 17 of those cases were in the Dubbo local government areas, six in Burke, one in Walgett, and three in the Bathurst local government area.
In the Far West local health district, there were seven cases. All seven cases were in Wilcannia.
In the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region overnight, there were 34 cases. 24 cases were in the Wollongong local government area, seven cases in the Shellharbour local government area, two cases from the Shoalhaven local government area and one case currently under investigation in the Kiama LGA.
In the Hunter-New England local health district, we had 11 new cases overnight, three cases in Port Stephens local government area, two in the Newcastle local government area, five from the Lake Macquarie local government area and one from the Dungog local government area.
Also on the Central Coast, 15 new cases on the Central Coast to 8:00pm last night.
Southern Highlands, we saw five new cases in the Wingecaribee shire, four in Woodlands and one in Mittagong.
In Southern New South Wales, there were zero cases to 8:00pm last night but we've been notified this morning of two additional cases, one in Batemans Bay and one in Cooma. The Batemans Bay case is a contact of a previous case announced a couple of days ago.

Interesting that daily case numbers in both Vic and NSW seem to have basically plateaued over the past 7 days. Not going up, not going down, just hanging round the same range.

While it would be nice to see some downward movement, the next best thing is not seeing upward movement.
