Quasi board member who couldn't vote. Very good she's gone, had no business being there in the first place.

I was at the presidents luncheon through a work partner at the port game when Korda introduced her. Two things; Korda is not a god public speaker and the vibe a got about her was a bit of a “look at me” type. He said she is extremely well credentialed but for mine clearly lacks any kind of self awareness. I don’t think this is a big loss.
The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.
Your dissapointed that a footscray supporter has quit the Collingwood board?jackcass wrote:Very disappointing. Thought she was an excellent addition to the board. Bridie O’Donnell quits Collingwood board
As an ancillary impact, it also imperils state government funding for the sports medicine development at Olympic park which was linked to gender balances on boards. Was that $15m?

Her appointment was in accordance with the constitution though. Sections 27 (Casual Vacancies) and 25 (Qualification for Board Membership) apply. Her position to be ratified at the next AGM.Pies4shaw wrote:^ Jackcass, she was (invalidly) appointed earlier this year, not in 2020. The Club published the announcement on 18 May 2021. Given that her appointment was not in accordance with the Club's constitution, she was never a member of the Board.
Her membership was apparently taken out in Jan-Feb 2020 reflecting her support for the Collingwood AFLW side. Well before that appointment this year. She'd actually nearly meet the 24 month criteria if the AGM was held early next year as usual.

Quitting before the Western Bulldogs play off in the Grand Final.robevpau1 wrote:https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/bridie-o-donnell-quits-collingwood-board-20210916-p58s25.html
Bridie O’Donnell quits Collingwood board
I think she wants to be free to celebrate a potential Doggies victory.

^ She didn't meet the membership qualification. Her appointment was therefore (and remains) invalid. It might have been ratified at the AGM, provided the numbers were in favour of such a motion. Be that as it may, the decision to appoint a person who did not qualify for appointment was a ridiculous farce and a massive failure of governance.

A qualification which can be waived as was the case with Alex Waislitz's appointment which makes it a valid appointment until such time as it fails to be ratified at the AGM.Pies4shaw wrote:^ She didn't meet the membership qualification. I don't recall all this angst when Waislitz was appointed. It's all been about O'Donnell on this occasion but at least she is a member. Waislitz wasn't as far as I'm aware. Wilson is an MCC member, not a CFC member. He'll likewise now be up for ratification at the AGM.
My stance is always appoint the best person to the role based on their expertise and experience and the needs of the board. O'Donnell is clearly consistent with that.
And $15m of state government funding is not to be sneezed at.
He doesn't have to. He is happy to do a "Stephen Bradbury"!Jezza wrote:Browne's been doing everything to avoid an election.Rd10.1998_11.1#36 wrote:That last sentence is at odds with what Browne has been trying to do though

ANOTHER MEDIA LEAK FROM OUR BOARD TO MICHAEL WARNER. SO NO PETER NOT A MEDIA BEAT UProbevpau1 wrote:https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/peter-murphy-insists-he-won-t-be-collingwood-president-20210915-p58rzw.html
"Collingwood have discussed the idea of a third option as president instead of Mark Korda or the board challenger Jeff Browne as a peaceful solution to a board challenge, but that third person will not be board member Peter Murphy.
Murphy stridently denied a report that he was striking a deal with Korda for him to take over as Magpies president, declaring he is not seeking the job...".
Murphy calling it a media beat-up!
