When i worked in the building industry as a 17 year old tea room was a pile of timber or bricks, a big bottle of soft drink, a pie with sauce and a meat and salad roll. Morning tea was a cup of coffee from a thermos and and an apple slice and a few smokes.

You would not believe how much supermarket warehouses forked out last year for seperate bubble buildings, including one for visiting truckies, and then forked out to pack them up and then Rebuild them!

When I started at GMH. We had a massive canteen just like the movies with trays and lots of choices, it was awesome!

I hope that is what we see, unfortunately I think we will see far worse. I expect a far bigger and violent protest than what has been so far.

When I started at Telecom in the 80's we had a bunch of floors in 35 Collins St. Half of the 3rd floor was the cafeteria. Massive. Get a hot or cold meal for $2.

I don't buy the BS that they weren't union members, it's an excuse that doesn't make logical sense. It looks to me like what it was, a bunch of construction workers who don't want the vaccine and who felt like the CFMEU and Setka had sold them out.

We'll see what a 2 week unpaid holiday does for their mood

Yep, even Setka and Shorten have admitted it was union members who started it, but trying to blame them being ‘hijacked’ for getting out of control.

I suspect the few who joined in came after they saw it was getting violent very early in the day after Setka came out to speak to the mob.

That was the obvious sign it was union members when he actually bothered to talk to them.

Keep in mind that people who work on those large sites are union members whether they want to be or not. They don't get a choice.

On the last day of August, the reported positive test result rate in Victoria was 0.15%. Today, it was a disturbing 1.23%. The highest figure NSW reached was 1.29% (on 5 September). Looking at the trend, if closing construction doesn't put a dampener on this, the Victorian positive rates are just going to race past NSW.

Was there ever any doubt that the figures were considerably understated? I am quite confident that there are whole sections of society not reporting but rather, getting sick, then getting better without the authorities having any information.

I don't think they're significantly understated. If they were, it would be completely out of control by now. There are, no doubt, a few people who get sick and well but pass the virus on in the meantime. However, the the R(eff) is very low (still under 1.2 in Victoria), so it isn't like there is heaps of unexpected transmission out there.
