Browne?
Heard all this before in the 1980's with Ranald McDonnell. That turned out well.
Exactly.

So are you saying you would like Korda to stay on, even after the board has asked him to leave?
Is that what you're saying?

And how convenient you pick out McDonald which failed but don't mention Eddie who take over the same way after Rose did the right thing and stepped away.

Korda has been there way too long and should have the sense to walk away now, having overseen the post Eddie and post Bucks transition.

It seems Browne is absolutely obsessed with becoming our next President, so I say let's give him a go. To some degree you've got to have a massive ego for that role, and he seems to fit the bill.

My only worry is that we seem to have way too many corporate business types on our board. Remember, these are the same types who gave the world the Great Financial Crisis! They are apparently very smart and intelligent until they are not! Also, there is not a single Board member, who has any real connection with rank and file members.

We appear to be back in Eddie's time. No elections, no chance for members to have their say, just a stage managed corporate transfer of power between various business leaders, most of whom we have never heard of.

I am not saying we should go back to the bitterly contested elections of the mid-twentieth century when some of the elections seemed to be between religious cliques rather than football visions but it is worth pointing out that the club won a lot more premierships when the members were more involved in the running of the club.

Eddie did a lot to develop the club in the first half of his Presidency but he did it as a corporate affair. The members were treated as customers rather than owners of the cub, which is actually what we are. It seems that both Korda and Browne have the same attitude. I signed the petition because I wanted a meaningful general meeting and a meaningful election. it appears that this is not going to happen.

I would like to see a few committee people outside the corporate/media circle. Paul Licuria is the only ex player on the committee. In the 20th Century often half the committee were retired players. I would like to see a few genuine fans on the Board. Are you still interested in running Rudey? I am unfortunately too old and not healthy enough to run, but if I was in my mid 60s rather than my mid 70s I would certainly consider it.

I don't have a problem with the lack of democracy at this level, none of us know the real players so I'm happy to let the Alpha predator rise by natural selection as long as they are black and white through and through, then you know all that power and corruption is working for you

Korda has to go in our time, not his (we're not a CV-building charity), and Browne might have the right ego complex for the job (there are more and less useful versions of inflated ego for this kind of role); however, Browne has to prove his suitability and be fully answerable. Naturally, he will think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but don't they all?

So yes, Korda, there's the door. No need to pretend you want to engage the peasantry now. A quiet exit works for all. But Browne, have the decency to put your vision on the table and your credentials in the spotlight right now; establish transparent communications right now; and answer to club constituents right now. Or you too can bugger off with him.

Don't fall for the line that 'it would be wrong of Browne' to reveal his hand publicly while Korda is still president. This BS line is spun time and time again to avoid transparency, and it gets everything off on the wrong foot. Start down that road, and Browne will end up just like all of them.

(In fact, it's a bad sign Browne doesn't feel intrinsically compelled to communicate with Collingwood people, and is instead lobbying and talking to self-important wankers, making constituents beg for information about their own club).

Transparency has to start now. It needs to be inherent in the process at all times. And yet, all we seem to get are second-hand reports of backroom dealings between fat-headed tools who still think that club people can wait for their few crumbs 'when the time is right'.

Sorry, but no. The time for transparency and forthrightness is right now, or like tomorrow it will never come.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Collingwood’s board has been given a strict deadline to negotiate a peaceful handover and told a ‘total spill’ will be caused if it ignores the directive.

The Collingwood board has been given until midday on Wednesday (tomorrow Oct 6) to strike a deal with would-be president Jeff Browne to avoid a full spill of directors at December’s annual general meeting.

I object to Korda refusing to stand aside after he has been on the board for around 14 yrs. Enough already.

However, I also object to the egotism of Browne assuming he has some god given right to assume the Presidency of our club, when he has not been elected by the members. Browne may turn out to be a very good President, but first he should have the decency of providing a platform or vision and presenting it to the members to vote on. For that reason, I hope there is a third candidate, which will force an actual election. Sure, elections cost money, but the reason democracy is expensive is because it's valuable.

Francis Galbally needs to pull his head in. Man is causing a lot of trouble.

Nominations open on October 15. Will be interesting to see who runs.

Voting will occur from November 19 to December 10 with results announced at the AGM on December 16.

Somehow, the Galbally's seem to think they are 'special' people, with a right to demand things. We have enough egos at the moment, without external one's destabilising the place.

For too long now the members of this club have been ignored while there are a privileged few with connections which go back a long time who think they run the club.

Why? What would he bring to the board in terms of skills and experience?
