Collingwood president Mark Korda has fallen on his sword.

Foxfooty.com.au can reveal he has stepped down and the Magpies will announce it as soon as Thursday morning, with Korda telling those close to him he has arrived at the decision for the good of the club.

Wish Korda well.

This was inevitable once he announced he was stepping down at the end of next year.

Browne is in the box seat now.

On October 15 the club will call for nominations and there will be an election to select the new board. Then the board will appoint the new president.

It’s understood Korda was not pushed by fellow directors and this was his own personal decision to take the heat out of a potentially volatile situation.

I'm assuming the election will go ahead as planned, but now there's 5 spots up for grabs:

1. Vacancy #1 (left by Korda)
2. Vacancy #2 (left by O'Donnell)
3. Murphy's spot
4. Holgate's spot
5. Wilson's spot

Only Sizer and Licuria are not up for re-election.

I would assume Browne and two others take 3 board spots, and Murphy and Holgate are re-elected.

Wilson will be ousted, and with him being ineligible I doubt he generates as much support as Murphy and Holgate.

The board will then vote on Browne to be the new President.

Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!

The Age reporting Korda has stepped down, but will remain on the board for the rest of his term which complicates matters further.

Very sad if true. As an incumbent board member Korda was entitled to serve his term. Be interesting to see how the AGM unfolds. Its insulting that Browne will in all likelihood step into role of president as per his demands.

The big dog gets the bone, rather have an Alpha Ahole working for us than a nice guy that finishes 2nd

I am looking forward to a Browne-led Collingwood Football Club. In saying that the board should be appointed by the members.

Which member of the current board wasn't appointed by the members?
