Essendon, Geelong, Southern Saints and Casey played finals last year.

Last season Geelong were our main rivals.
Essendon have put a good list together, I assume in anticipation of AFLW in 2023.

How we go may depend on if any of the AFLW listed players play in 2022.

Last year Pies had a policy of the under 25year old AFLW players getting a game during the VFLW season as part of their development. Not sure what the plan is this year. Assume that players like Molloy who are carrying injuries will get a break.

B: 53. D Pedersen, 72. K Lee
HB: 63. G Ricardo, 5. N Hales, 74. E Wroe,
C: 55. C Bunker, 65. E Jackson, 91. D Hallett
HF: 35. H Bowey, 99. M Emond, 58. K Colborne-Veel
F: 77. I Barnett, 64. S Camelleri
R: 60. G Matser, 51. M Zander, 41. T Cowan
Inter: 4. M DeMatteo, 56. M Neal, 57. N Dojiok, 73. O Storer, 88. N O’Connor
Emerg: 24. R Busch

INS: Djoiok, Dematteo, Matser

OUTS: King (finger injury) , O’Dea (AFLW), Smith (AFLW)

This will be a tough match. Hawthorn have a few players back into their side (including their captain) and the Pies will miss having Bella & Ebony (both promoted to AFLW). Sarah King is also a big out. Bella Smith covered the ruck position all game last week, so we are bit short there.

Again kept port in it and was kicking points instead of goals early on played best in quarter 4
Apart from that a lot of improvements to make in particular scoring when inside forward 50
Port was gallant in defeat

Pies lost to the Blues 5.5.35 to 4.8.32.

After being behind all game the girls almost got the win with a couple of goals in the last quarter. With captain Caitlyn Bunker being called up to the AFLW as an emergency, the Pies lacked a bit of experience down back.

Match report:

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/1 ... too-late//

Pies 6th on the ladder due to Cats losing.
Have a better % than Darebin and Southern Saints so are a chance to move up the ladder if they can play 4 qtrs and get a win against the unbeaten Casey Demons next game.

Another close loss.

Demons 5.6.36 defeated Pies 3.11.29

Same as last week but this time it was the 1st qtr where the Dees kicked 3 goals to none.

Pies had plenty of the ball in the 2nd and 4th quarters - when they kicked to the Swan St end - but could no capitalise on their forward entries. Camelleri got a bit of the ball, unfortunately she is an ordinary kick. Ground level skills lacking at this level leading to scrappy play and ball ups. Dees had more run & carry and were better overhead marks.
Nyakoat Dojiok didn't play - it would have been handy to have her height in the forward line.

Cats 8.9.57 defeated Pies 3.4.22.

Pies had a slight lead at the end of the 1st qtr. but Cats really kicked away in the last keeping the Pies scoreless.

Pies cannot play a full 4 qtrs - last week it was the 1st qtr where the opposition set up their win. Today it was the last qtr.

Not the same team from last year.

This was supposed to be the GF last year, but last years team was almost unstoppable.
