Eddie has backed off from most of his commitments in the past 12 months and I've always wondered if this was because he was eyeing off the top job when Gil left?

Not an easy job, but very glad to hear he is going.

I don't like the direction the game has gone under his watch, whoever the replacement is, and I think Eddie would be as good as anyone, has a huge task ahead of them.

First and foremost to stop tinkering with the rules

Not surprised, Gil was walking away couple years ago when covid hit and forced his hand.

Like to see Sam Newman as AFL ceo need to get away from this slick corperate tie theme.

Hes got a degree in business managment too Sam.

Light hearted easy going character.

Played the game too knows a bit too.

Jack Hamilton (former Collingwood fullback) was the secretary of the VFL a while back.
