Great to get the win. Enjoyed watching guys like Cameron, Noble, Daicos and Henry continue to develop.

Should have won by more and would have been filthy if we got pipped given;
1. Wastefulness inside 50 - at times clumsy, poor execution and Checkers having a Checkers game…
2. Umpiring. Firstly, that free against Moore that lead to a goal was utter rubbish. I don’t care if he lifts his arm to create the head high but Ginnivan having his head removed is a free all day every day - regardless of who you are in what era. They have not changed the rules and I would expect that Ump to be challenged on “why not” when they review.

All in all, we were the better side (stats read a bit like the west coast game) and nearly lost it but great to see them steady in 4q. Loved that Henry stood up. Rising Star nom maybe?

I thought Jordy was very good (despite some usual
posters here claiming he’s lazy or whatever…). With regards to a trade - I have faith that if the contract is right for the club we’ll
gladly keep him. If someone offers him crazy money and he wants to take it then I’m sure we’ll let him walk. Personally I’d be more inclined to revisit the Grundy situation…

Fantastic, gut wrenching, brutal win. This win is huge for the confidence, spirit and belief of our team. We have made so much progress this year. At the start of the year, we seemed unable to run out games. Fly denied this to be the case, and said at the time that we are still "learning how to win". This game is a milestone achievement in our learning curve.
To snatch that victory, after they kicked the first two last quarter goals, and then hold them off in those last desperate minutes, is a testament to the belief and the will to win that our coaches are imparting to our team.
Amazing game from Nick Daicos.
And Henry has the temperament of a superstar. To slot that winning goal in those circumstances shows a will of iron.
And we would not have won without McCreery's desperation in the last quarter either.

Yeah, at one stage I was screaming at the computer screen for Fly to put someone on him. He was huge for them, creating so many opportunities out of their defence, but also running up the ground and providing a crucial link in their chain of ball movement through the centre of the ground.

We easily had the good run from umpires for a while, 6-0, couple of dubious ones. 11-5 at half time and finally 26-20. Sure there were some dodgy ones for both sides in the last but really our inaccuracy nearly lost us the game again. Hawks came out breathing fire in the 3rd and we were second to the ball. Thought De Goey was an asset all day with his ball winning, link, carry and kicking inside 50 so not sure what others are referring to.

Henry's kick to put us in front was huge after he had missed. McCreery looked like he had a run with role on Mitchell for a while there in the second half which was interesting. Cox was limp, WHE wouldn't pick it up, Checkers whilst strong was ineffective.
Get back on top.

I just saw some highlights of the game on the news tonight.Boy did we get the rough end of the pineapple from the umpires yet again.Ginnivan gets his head taken off,no free kick.Moore pushes the ball through the goal and has a Hawthorn player slide in behind him.Free kick to them.Unbelievable when you think about it.Just as well these howlers from the umps didn’t cost us the game.

Hardwick’s ‘antics’ vs Ginnivan in the last quarter were disgusting. Wouldn’t expect anything less from a Sam Mitchell coached team.

Jesus if Ginnivan’s last name was Selwood we win by 3 goals. Horrible umpiring.

He did alright with the umps the first quarter with 2 soft frees. His dropping to his knees has just become too obvious and predictable. Hope he stamps it out of his game

his first 2 goals were legitimate free kicks ,rode into the ground then held onto, kicked one from 50 on a tough angle with a wet ball ..give it a break

I see we actually won the free kick count, can't wait to see this on replay when I get home tomorrow!

But the one I have seen, the FCBK free kick against Darcy in their goalsquare, holy shit, for the umpire 50m to pay that when there was an umpire 3m away who didn't call it, that's atrocious. Seemed to be a few paid by OOZ umpires in the limited highlights I've seen.

As an umpire it pisses me off when I've seen something that's clearly not a free kick yet the clown 50m away pays it...

Out of zone free kicks should only be obvious free kicks missed due to the main umpire being unable to see due to their positioning.

Exactly Eddie. Umpiring is hard enough, but to have a call overruled like that is an issue. AFL will clear it though, they’re more concerned with diversity in umpiring than creating full time roles and full time training so we have professional umpiring instead of part timers.
