We won 11 in a row, wonderful effort, but it had to end sometime, maybe this was the loss we had to have pre Finals, perhaps. I knew as soon as JDG was ruled out pre game, itd be damn hard now, plus we lost Ginni later on, its tough. I guess some of our guys, had the flu too,and that can be very debilitating, weakens you, somewhat, you feel OK to play but your still bit weak. Swans up on their peanut ground, no injuries to speak of, and at least we did not get smashed by ten goals, fought it out. Now its up too Fly, to re load us and get us ready for the Bluescum, I have great faith in him to do so, the scum had a tougher game than we did, and were heartbroken after that close loss. If De Goey plays, Jack is OK, we can take them, we will be pretty shitty after that loss, the old enemy will have us out to redeem ourselves, put in real big one next Sunday.

Our 11 win streak was bookended by by games that Callum Brown was selected in.

Sorry, but he is not anywhere near the standard that a team vying for a top 4 spot can afford to play.

It is very frustrating when you sense a loss coming at the selection table.

Any coincidence that the players that had the flu during the week all had poor games?

Not fussed about losing to Sydney at the SCG. Half expected this result, their defensive game lately has been superb. Lose next week and the doubts will be real though.

Today we just didn't take the game on enough until it was too late. Until the margin was too great, until the Swans had a lead they could defend strongly. Going forward we need to start being more aggressive throughout the game. Every qtr needs a 10 to 15 minute period of aggressive run and carry. If this is our 1-wood we need to pull it out more often. We need to start controlling games and developing leads. Can't expect to come from behind in big finals against quality opposition every time it will not happen. Too many players are giving nothing in the first half of games.

Obviously, we need Adams and JDG back in the midfield. We looked undersized without them and lacked intimidation x-factor not being first to the ball enough which is what those guys give us. Checkers, Elliott, Howe, Sidey, McCreery had no real impact either. A lot of guys were down, hopefully this is not where we drop off the cliff, it would be a real disappointment if it happened.

I know we are a low possession team but I am curious to know why that is the case? Is it preventing us from winning games by more than a kick and did it hurt us today against the Swans? Is it a problem having the ball 50 to 100 times less than the opposition? I don't know, but I'd like to see us with the footy a bit more often. If we have it, then they don't, this has to help a bit.

Ginnivan may be out next week, if so I hope to see Henry back. I think we really need him to hit his straps and provide a strong avenue to goal. Just play him.

This is why it hurts that the draft year of McRae, Henry, poulter, McInnes are not considered good enough to play

Can’t fault the effort, silly skill errors killed us, i don’t know how many times we screwed up basic 5 metre handballs (or) handballed to someone under pressure, the boys fought it right out though.

Lick our wounds and prepare for the Scum, reckon we shouldn’t risk Jordy, have him cherry ripe for week one.

Swans played better for longer and won.

We have got a high-pressure game into Johnson, Bianco, Carmichael, Murphy, Nick Daicos, McCreery, Noble, Quaynor, Cameron, Callum Brown.

We can surmise that the flu left us 'flat' but, in truth, not having De Goey and Adams in the centre square was critical. Clearly, Grundy would have been missed too.

Hoping that De Goey gets up for next week- I would not take any risk with Ginnivan.

Outs: Bianco, Ginnivan, C.Brown (medi sub)

Ins: De Goey, MacRae & Poulter

Win our next four, we are premiers.
Lose our next two it is mothballs for 2022...

For a side given the raspberry by all in the footy media and a lots of others
a bloody good effort
Can’t see us making an impact on the finals

Some canny selection for players to come to the club next year and we go again

Victory over the Bluescum, and i reckon we can win at least one Final, beyond that, who knows, anything may happen. :)

Can we go back to playing Carmichael as the sub? No more playing of any Browns, when they play we lose. Hopefully the loss we had to have as we were very lacklustre all day bar a brief period at the end of the 3rd. Henry for Ginnivan is the logical change, must beat the scum and not play Richmong or Bullflogs in an elimination final

Look it was inevitable the run was going to end at done stage and it we were up against it without 2 midfield bulls in Adams and JDG.

Let’s just get the job done against Carlton lock in 4th and then hit that 13 game winning Geelong team, which would be coming off a month of soft wins and the bye with our trademark in your face tackling and pressure.

We got this, let’s just hope on draw between Brissy and Melbourne because then we are off to the SCG again.
