I think we can all agree that we'd need to start looking for another ruckman if BG is traded.

The decision will be based around if Cameron is going to be our #1 guy. If he is, then we still need to find a #2.

Agree Stui, I think McStay is a mistake I reckon, as we need someone who is a key forward to support Checkers who’s starting to get banged up. McStay is not that player. We are a far better team with Grundy, so I hope we can find a way of keeping him as big Mase is struggling at centre bounces. We can’t forget how good he is when fully fit. It would have been awesome if we had him to unleash on this finals campaign.

If so many clubs are genuinely interested then it should be easy, but how many are only showing interest at a cheap price? Is anyone willing to pay him $1 million a season?

Definitely need some backup for your ruckman always, but if that backup costs you 300,000 instead of a million a season that’s a huge saving with no harm done to your premiership chances.

Apart from Grundy we already have 3 rucks on our list, in Cox, Cameron and the emerging Begg and possibly McMahon (who is around 200 cms after all).

KEEP GRUNDY, he will be fighting fit next season, and make us an even better team , if Cox goes down injured, long term , and no Grundy, we are totally rooted, stuffed , its insane to even contemplate losing him, and as for paying out contract, ala Treloar, they can stick that right up their rats clackers, never going down that disgusting road again. Never.

Ponder this for a minute
Rumours are always rampant in the media
Generally a player or player manager will leak info to the media to get out of a club or if there contract is up and they want extra $$
Clubs don’t leak rumours about players they want out because then it becomes a buyers market (think Treloar)
Clubs are more inclined to say he is a contracted player and required player (insert more corporate speak as required)
If a club is looking to offload a highly paid player they want a return for it not to be worse off than they were

By Grundy meeting with other clubs openly and not publicly saying he isn’t going elsewhere you could assume (maybe even safely assume) that it’s more likely the player pressing for a new environment than the club making the moves
If Grundy doesn’t like something that’s happened under the regime then he is entitled to find a club that might suit him better
Conversely the club has the right to insist he honours his contract
The media hype around any high profile player who may be on the move always gets people guessing
Remember this is the same media who had Franklin signed sealed and delivered to GWS how did that work out ?
The last point is the news becomes bigger when it involves Collingwood
It may have been as simple as Grundy saying through his management would the club consider trading me if I could find a suitable suitor
The club replies sure if that’s what you want to do

We will know more in a few weeks but personally I believe it’s not the clubs agenda being played out in the media

If the club wanted him they'd simply say that Grundy is a contracted player and will make us better next year.

^ we dont need to say a damn thing, hes a contracted player too us, and thats the end of it, Hillbilly Gawn can babble on all he likes, bout meeting him, and try to derail our season here and now, but he can get stuffed, as can the Cats, who plainly do not have a salary cap down at sleepy hollow.
