I would be disappointed to lose Henry. He's a great talent that happens to be raw at the moment, and needs to improve on his defensive game.

Johnson did well to overtake him in the latter stages of the season, but he was brutally exposed in the Sydney game which makes me wonder whether Henry is still the preferred option in the long term.

If Henry wants to leave, then we may as well offload him but in an ideal world I'd like to see him stay and fight for his spot.

Yep I was disappointed he didn't play in the back half. This kid has it.

Henry > Johnson. Both kids relative to games played so both plenty of up side. Johnson really had two terrible finals. Hope we keep Oliver but if he doesn’t want to do the hard things I suspect Johnson does. Just needs to show a bit more when he’s doesn’t win the ball and Oliver needs to do the defensive things.

It took me until the preliminary final to realise McCreery is a better player than both of them. Sustained pace, pressure, agility, respected hard trainer and a couple clutch goals in the biggest game of his young career.
Point being, they other two are both limited the moment they don’t mark the ball. To be fair, there’s also been plenty who have carved out a decent career doing just that but the simple fact is, the more weapons you have, the further you will likely go in the game.

Metoo but if he’s determined to join the pricks we bend them over, or ge stays.

Personally I think he’s lazy, doesn’t work hard enough on his defence, he thinks he’s allready all that. He aint. Stevo without the naughty shit,

McReery is brilliant, he’s a Maynard mood that can kick goals. And he was in a crash the day before!

So Oliver Henry wants to join Geelong? Ok then if he really doesn’t want to fight for his spot in the best 22 at Collingwood then put him up for trade but insist we get Geelong’s future first round draft pick. Anything less and he stays or goes into the draft.

Yes, if Kreuger hadn't fluffed his line, McReery's inspirational run out of the backline, following his two great set shots and some other magnificent long field-kicking, might have been the headline read this morning. His ball-handling remains a deficit - but then Doug Barwick wasn't a one-touch player, either.

But he was a prodigious kick of the football

The missing skill is goaling on the run. Fix that, and McCreery can be Jamie Elliott with big body hurt.
Get back on top.

Anthony Rocca did the same thing at the conclusion of 1996. And after 2 seasons and 22 games, he got his wish and was traded to Collingwood, the team he supported growing up and the team his older brother played for.

He was the start of the mini-rivalry between the Swans and Pies at the time; Ahmat, Davis, Williams, Schauble, and later on Rhyce Shaw, Darren Jolly.

Anyway, I hope Henry stays. As someone pointed out earlier, Elliott and Mihocek are over 30 and Johnson (25) might not be ready to step up. I dont think his lack of opportunity is the problem, he just wants to play for the Cats.

If we do not trade him any team can pick him up in the pre season draft.

The only thing we can do is increase our offer (not happening) or hope that the 14 teams before us in the pre season draft don’t take him before us, so we don’t have much breathing room here, meaning we will get what we get (hopefully a 2nd round pick)
