Once bitten twice shy. I would reward another player who values our jumper. We also need to have moved on and this would be an unnecessary step. The Black and White Lion wrote: Given he wants out now, would you be prepared to take Oliver Henry back in a few years time?
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

That's a myth now with Andrew Mackie now heading up list management. Look at the last 3 trade periods:Big T wrote:Nah, Geelong are normally a good club to trade with and trading is all about relationships with certain clubs over a longer term. Its just business, be smart and get the best deal we can. The boy wants to go to Geelong. So be it.scoobydoo wrote:They should. Set the precedent now. We can play hard ball to some degree but in the end will give a little to get something back.

Stonewalled and played stubborn hard to get. You have been warned. They''ll do the same with Henry, Bruhn and Bowes.
I love the Pies, hate Carlscum

Aren't the Curnows from out that way?piedys wrote:Perhaps a good time for all clubs to strongly consider avoiding drafting players from the Geelong nursery areas; it is a one club town there, and their hearts will always be at Kardinia Park. Their list is loaded with them.

With all the talks of players wanting to go back to their home clubs with poor ol Suns and GWS wearing the brunt of it, it makes me wonder why Geelong dont have want away players...
I know theres the home grown country living style but cheaper accommodation deals should get factored into the salary cap.
Much the same or opposite to how Sydney have a higher salary cap, Geelong should have their side offers investigated or simply have their salary cap lowered.

Tay Adams was from down there, but he's given his heart and soul for Collingwood.piedys wrote:Perhaps a good time for all clubs to strongly consider avoiding drafting players from the Geelong nursery areas; it is a one club town there, and their hearts will always be at Kardinia Park. Nonsense idea. COLA has been scrapped by the AFL because Sydney were rorting by paying all the extra cap to Buddy instead of pro-rata to every player.magpieazza wrote:With all the talks of players wanting to go back to their home clubs with poor ol Suns and GWS wearing the brunt of it, it makes me wonder why Geelong dont have want away players...

What about North? Should they have a lower cap because of their lower socio economic status? A house in Adelaide is cheaper than Melbourne - them too? Maybe we could get players to file the value of their property and amend the cap for each club accordingly?
I actually think the cap is working pretty well. The competition is pretty even week to week. Despite their dominance the Cats have won a single flag in 11 years and at some stage they will slip further on the ladder.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

I deliberately went the extreme side of things to start a debate.
I know its fanciful but for all my teenage years to now Im sick of seeing Geelong in the finals and its not a cyclical thing either.
They get Braun and Henry and away they go again.
Can Collingwood players take a paycut so we can dominate for the next 40 years please ?
Frustrated sorry but not sorry.

Anyway just listening to trade radio and SOS saying we could walk (not preferable though ) Henry to the draft.
SOS said he has had 2 years of development put in him so that increases his market value.
I wouldnt walk him to the draft but I hope Geelong get a bit windy and end up throwing us a future first rounder hopefully.
Henry will be a ripper I reckon, so hope we get a good deal at least or keep him.
