The WHO Director-General concurs with the advice offered by the Committee regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He determines that COVID-19 is now an established and ongoing health issue which no longer constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC)

Had the WE off work as per roster. Did 3 spin classes inc Saturday am. Got up at 05:45 on Sunday rode to Franga and back. Hot shower then Mother’s Day in Footscray ( brunch outdoors) felt cold with the chill in the wind despite the sun. Went to the G. Felt fine.
Monday morning a bit of a sore throat.

Here's a link to the original report and the source for the claim ("sources within the US government"), for those who are curious:

Interestingly, only the right-wing tabloids are running with it for the time being. One can read into that what they like, but I'd generally consider Taibbi to be a trustworthy journalist.

In Victoria in the last week (till Friday 16/6/23) we had a daily average of:
16 deaths;
17 in ICU; and,
313 in hospital.
Folks get vaccinated and wear masks in crowded areas especially things like public transport. The rate in increasing.

yep makes me laugh, especially since they are not mandatory!! your choosing to wear it, do it right!!stui magpie wrote:^
If you're going to choose to wear a mask in public FFS wear it properly or don't bother.
I see people in supermarkets wearing their mask on their chin or with their nose poking over the top.
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Chris Graham from New Matilda has done a pretty interesting and well-researched piece on COVID-19 vaccine safety:
https://newmatilda.com/2023/08/26/fear- ... a-vaccine/
Worth having a look, because there aren’t many serious journalists willing to take this up (after all, who wants to be marked as a member of the crank brigade?). But whether it’s in five years’ time or whenever, I expect there will be some fallout about how the vaccine rollout was handled, and probably, sooner or later, some grudging admissions that the Pfizer vaccines in particular may not have been quite as safe as we were promised.

Vaccinate as many as possible as fast as possible to build herd immunity (knowing those that contract it will build up antibodies as well) yes there will be anomalies like anything else in life but people that quaff copious amounts alcohol, drugs, caffeine, nicotine etc are far more at risk and articles like that just encourage the loony far right and gives them grist for the mill and their pathetic conspiracy theories.
