Hawks just went about injuring our players and they did a good job at it as well

Sure has ended our season.

Hawks played dirty and it shows.

Well played.

Just happens to be the probable AA captain. Show a bit more respect for champions in other teams.

The old days of us versus them is very tired. We may as well celebrate great performances in other teams because there's not much to celebrate with ours.
The AA captain should have to have an opponent don't you think? Saints gave him one and he struggled.

Faaaaaaark. I thought yesterday it’d be a medial strain for Nick, maybe a few weeks out. How he didn’t get a 50 for the second Hawk crunching him front on when that player wasn’t in the marking contest (and Nick had marked it) is a farce. I said before the game the Hawks would come out to hurt us out of spite, and they did. Hope Sam Mitchell trips over his dog in the shower and cracks his left nut.

We are a top side. We aren't 2 games plus percentage clear on top of the ladder for no reason. Sure, we've played a few shite games in the 2nd half of the season, but Premierships are won in September not July or August.

What seems clear to me, is that Mitchell is shot, Johnson is not hard enough, and Lipinski is a tad soft. Now, if the reports are true, we will also be missing Murphy. So we need to replace these with 4 players imo.

Cox to replace Johnson. At least he has a record as a big game player.

Carmichael to replace Mitchell.

WHE to replace Lipinski.

Frampton to replace Murphy.

Then the club psychologists have to get to work, to get our players delivering that manic heavy metal type football which got us to the top of the ladder.

Do that, and the Cats won't know what's hit them.

I'm confident, we'll settle the ship and hit the finals in great shape.
Yeah, but who replaces Nick Daicos?
I'd roll the dice with Ed Allen. He may well perform better at the senior level.

I'd also play Cox predominantly in the ruck, where he plays his best footy, allowing Cameron to spend more time up forward.

We also need to examine whether we can play McStay and Checkers together. It may be coincidental, but Checkers has gone off the boil since the promotion of McStay.

Hawks just snippers everywhere anyway.

They are bottom 4 and all they wanted to do was injure pies players.

They had targets in mind too.

Surprised there werent more.

Exactly. The hawk player wasn't a part of the contest and deliberately hit him. A 50 everyday.

Seems our coaches were derailed with where to put Daicos to get him into the game. How they gonna go without him.
Our midfield is ranked 18th. How’s it going to go without its best cog?
Pretty dire now. Will need a miracle.
The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

Someone needs to teach them about separation. How many times do we see them flying for the same mark for nil result? Same thing when Johnson was trying to mark a couple of times and its happened to Cox also. They really need to work that out, its not rocket science. Also our crumbing system seems to be random at such times too.

We have top two sown up, so thats just silly, Port lost too, so we cannot drop from top two. Losing the home final is nuts too. jeezus, we had one really lousy game, time to harden up, get behind the team , yeh, make a few changes next week, re fresh the side and come out breathing fire. ! I have faith in our Coach to get this team back on track. We had so many players down in that match, that wont happen again, rest asssured of that. Support the team thru bad times and the good times, next week will be totaly different match. :o
We are now. https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/1 ... ury-update
“Both players underwent scans after our game last night which confirmed Nathan suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury in his right ankle and is expected to miss the next two to three weeks, while Nick has a hairline fracture in the lateral tibial plateau of the right knee joint.

“Nick has been seen by a specialist knee surgeon this morning and, while fortunately this does not require an operation, it will need time to heal before he returns to football. At this stage, the expected timeframe for Nick is six weeks.

So Murphy back for Qualifying Final..

Nick Daicos maybe back for. Preliminary Final (if we make it).
We will be top 4, so first there is the First final, then the Semi -Final (which we are guaranteed to make, even losing the first final). So in this time frame, he could be back for the Semi-final, given there are 3 rounds, plus a bye week, then First week of finals, then Semifinals

Real positions in the side up for grabs but I don't see anyone putting their hand up. Werribee dominating.

Werribee 11.4 to 4.8 half way through the third.

WHE looking like an old man. Cox tapping the ball to the Werribee mids and Ginni not looking too interested. No standouts selections.

44 point lead to Werribee now. And they do not have a single AFL player on their list! We have 16. Let that sink in about our real depth.

Coiuld it be that some have been told to hold back a little, so they have a bit in the tank for 5 days time?

Devastated with what panned out yesterday. I had hoped that with the loss last week, we would have an opportunity to regain momentum and form in the lead up to the finals.
It seems that our usual mastery of sports psychology has abandoned us (temporarily i would hope).
We came out lame and flat, unable to cope with Hawthorn's outstanding pressure. If we can't handle the pressure of Hawthorn, there is no way we will go anywhere in September. They came out to intimidate and crunch Nick - we knew they would, Mitchell even announced it with the tagger Mcginnes - but we looked unprepared for it. Maybe we had an alternative plan for dealing with Sicily (kicking it to where he wasn't), but we were unable to execute it. So with Sicily dominating there should have been another response to try to nullify him. Indeed, this seemed from the outside to be an uncharacteristically poor coaching performance.
It was followed by, to me, a very disconcerting presser. Maybe Fly was attempting simply to confuse the media, but in so doing he confused his fans as well (me for one). Why would he be entertaining a script in which we (top of the ladder) would be ambushed in the first quarter and down by 4 or 5 goals at quarter time against 16th on the ladder? Why was this script in his head from the start?
Even worse, we have suffered now a staggering injury blow with Naicos out for 6 weeks. Murphy's 3 weeks is bad enough, but is not so serious, since it is only half as long, and there is a clear replacement for him (Frampton). There is no replacement for Nick.
The winds of fortune have changed direction, and for us are now countervailing.
Fly has not been in such a situation for a long time, and has little experience in it.
I hope to God he can steer a path through it.
