WTF ????? IF Goodwin drops Gawn, and they lose, the Deeees Toff fans will just about string Goodwin up in the MCG Range Rover car park. :o :o :o :P :P

^ That's the great thing for us. He both must and will not drop Gawn, so it gives Collingwood a huge advantage.

I do feel sorry for Grundy. He didn't want to leave Collingwood, wanted to be a Pie for life, but a change of regime saw him pushed out the door, Melbourne went all in on their pitch about him playing ruck and Gawn playing forward, then when it didn't work he got dropped cos they can't drop their captain.

Acted in good faith twice, burned twice. I wish him all the best at Port Adelaide.

True enough, but he was ill-advised to pursue such a very high contract, which has to be at the expense of his fellow players.

Compare that to Peter Daicos recent interview where he said he advised his boys to “leave something on the table when signing, because that allows a little cap space to make a stronger team around you, and that gives you a better career”.

That is a flawless attitude. And a smart one.

It’s all well to say that Grundy didn’t want to leave Collingwood but it was conditional on being paid a mercenary salary that we couldn’t afford at the time. He obviously only looked in the mirror to validate his decision and not the fact that it would have cost Collingwood too much. So it’s not that he didn’t want to leave Collingwood, he wanted to leave for more money

^ Geelong has undepaid players for yrs, with the players full approval, like Hawkins, just so those players can play in Premiership sides. Pity Grundy did not see it that way, and hey, if we do wiin the flag, hes gonna feel pretty bloody weird, as will Ollie Henry, the mummys boy. !

In the media:

On Footy Classified last week, Eddie claimed Grundy's phone was ringing hot. Well, tell us who, Eddie, or you're telling us nothing...

Footy Classified said Grundy's camp has told clubs "ruck only"; he'll never agree to play forward again.

The Australian says Grundy met Hinkley, Rozee and Butters this week.

Rozee and Butters can meet all they want, but... They won't know the full disaster until the **** hits the fan. In a real game. For Melbourne's star-studded mids, that came in Round 2 against Brissy. Until it's happening to you, you don't realize how atrocious Grundy's ruckwork is.

Jeremy Howe is quoted talking up Grundy as Port ruckman. Howe says Grundy was never ever going to work as a forward. (Maybe Howe thinks to himself, "Playing forward is hard even for me, and I'm a way better player than Grundy!")

Instead of booing him, we should chant: thank you Grundy, thank you Grundy...for leaving.

Grundy will probably be cheering for us tomorrow night. Casey is out of VFL finals and is not likely to get a look in with the Demons. He has probably checked out already.

So he’ll be more invested in us than when he was stealing a $million a year from us?

Dunno about Grundy, but...

Even the unhinged Grundy Apologist on this BB should be cheering for us tonight...

'Cos a Pie win will drag Melbourne's 2023 winning percentage without Grundy below its current 100%.

Melbourne's winning percentage with Grundy and no Gawn will remain stuck forever at 50%.

So, Goodwin played Gawn and Gawn carried his team to yet another loss against Collingwood. For the record, the only time since 2016 that Gawn has played in a winning team against Collingwood was when Grundy played with him. That’s the funny thing about dredging up spurious drivel based on small sample populations within a season - when a loser like Gawn gets another opportunity to lose against Collingwood, it’s more than likely he’ll grasp the chance with both hands and carry his team to irrelevance. That might not happen next time - the Melbourne coach might work out where the problem is but, really, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Look, I think the most elegant way out of the dilemma is for us to take Gawn and Melbourne keep Grundy... ;)

Pretty simple really Grundy has now realized he is NOT viewed as a first ruck and has burnt his bridges with the Pies due to that cash grab attempt.

He is reportedly NOT happy at the Dees and also reportedly looking for another club.

It's a downward spiral that was entirely predictable with the prospect of him finishing his career with a whimper.

Surely booing is not necessary - he has punished himself enough.
