Joel Smith (MEL) banned for drugs

Post by LaurieHolden »

The AFL has been rocked after a player from a Melbourne-based finals team returned a positive drug test.
A urine sample taken from the player after a game in the weeks leading up to the AFL finals returned positive for a banned substance, believed to be cocaine.
Results only came through in the past 2 days.
Mark Robinson has the exclusive details. (paywall)
It means it is either Melbourne, Collingwood, Carlton or St.Kilda.

My guess is that it's a St Kilda player...... Possibly a Melbourne player....

Can't say I'm not relieved.
Don't think we should be doing victory laps either.

^ He'll serve it, now, before pre-season starts, probably.

Seriously, call it 4 years.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 players get caught. Drug testing works at these levels.

Are you suggesting the AFL protects certain marquee players. Particularly ones that can’t drive around the streets of Sydney.
