Everton points deduction saga

Post by Jezza »

Everton are in some trouble.

Could be a warning sign for Manchester City and Chelsea who might face similar issues in the near future.
Everton receive immediate 10-point Premier League deduction

Everton have received a 10-point deduction, which will be applied immediately, after being found to have breached the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

The punishment is the biggest sporting sanction in the competition's history and leaves Everton 19th in the table.

The club said it was "both shocked and disappointed" by the "wholly disproportionate and unjust" ruling.

Everton have said they intend to appeal against the decision.

More to follow.

Wow... Need to check if relegation markets are open. (Sadly, I'm guessing no.)

Everton struggled last year even without this.

Reduced to a 6 point deduction following an appeal from Everton.
Everton points deduction: Punishment reduced from 10 points to six after appeal

Everton's penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules has been reduced from 10 points to six after an appeal.

The club were immediately docked 10 points in November for breaking profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year period to 2021-22.

The punishment - the biggest in Premier League history - dropped Everton from 14th to 19th in the table.

The reduction lifts them from 17th to 15th, although the club is facing another possible points deduction.

No, a date has been set for their hearing but it remains secretive as to the specific date and time. There's essentially a media blackout on the whole process.

Some claim the hearing will be held around Spring our time (Sept-Nov), but that's speculative at best.

Apparently whatever the outcome (guilty or not), the Premier League will just announce the findings one day out of nowhere.

Everton deducted 2 points after a second breach of the profit and sustainability rules.

They're appealing the decision.
Everton deducted two points for second breach of Premier League financial rules

Everton have been deducted two points for a second breach of Premier League financial rules.

Profit and sustainability rules (PSR) permit clubs to lose Β£105m over three years and an independent commission found Everton breached that by Β£16.6m for the three-year period to 2022-23.

They drop one place to 16th and are now two points above the relegation zone.

The Toffees had a 10-point deduction reduced to six on appeal in February for the three-year period to 2021-22.

Everton say the club will appeal against the decision.
