The VFL fixture has been confusing for quite a few years. The Black and White Lion wrote:The VFL fixture and VFL byes are constant source of confusion for me. I don't understand them. We can add the VFL ladder too now. How does Carlton play and win 1 game and end up with a percentage of 82.2%?
A general Bye for state league game and each team has 4 byes during the season.
If they decide to let Port, Adelaide etc. into the comp it will be even worse.
You would have to think they will have to go to a conference system, with AFL aligned teams in one and stand alones in another (or a mix of both). But who knows.
And if you think the VFL draw is f**ckd, the VFLW fixture has the Swans and GWS playing in rounds 3 to 7 only.
Both won their 1st games today (round 3) and are currently in the top six .

Not sure they will play anyone.
They haven't in the past, when the AFL had a bye.
McInnes could play as Krueger has had another injury so they may want to bolster the forward line. Depends on how they viewed Reefs last game and if they are thinking of dropping him back to the VFL anyway.
Steene is due to come back this week.
Playing Cox would mean 3 rucks in the team. Steene plays 1st ruck, Begg 2nd ruck when both are in.

cheers! Ben Crocker is back! Keen to see how Begg and Steene go in the fwd line rotating through the ruck.
Really want Sullivan Richards and Harrison to keep going and force a change in the seniors team.
Anyone know where our CAT B rookie Parker is playing. Assuming he's playing a lower level somewhere to get back into footy after his cricket break.

Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Yep, great to see Crocker back. Adds some experience to the team.
A bit about his return on X:

With Steene back at 1st ruck, this will give Begg a chance to show what he can do in the forward line. Both would have been be up against a more experienced ruck in Pittonet but he has been called up to the AFL.
Backline has taken a hit with Ryan (hand- 6 weeks) and Sofronidis (foot-5 weeks) out. Jett Hartman (defender) comes into the team on the interchange bench.
Pies should win this game but will depend on getting the centre clearances & good delivery into the forward line (not bombing it in). More talent in our midfield.

Welcome back Benny! Always had time for the lad, can't all be world beaters, but the VFL team could use someone of his character and approach at the ball

Yet. The VFL game today might be enlightening to see if someone does.Charlie Oneeye wrote:I don't see any youngster in the reserves killing it ATM, so why do we think it will be any different in the firsts.
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm

1/4 time, Pies up 3.3 to 2.4 in a scrappy game.
I like the look of ned Long, smooth mover, reminds me a bit of Pendles the way he moves, sort of glides around.
Begg trying hard but the Blues ruck is monstering him at bounces. He's following up at ground level though, tackling like they owe him money.
No one else has really caught the eye, haven't seen Allan do much, TJ done a couple of nice things, MaCrae has got a bit of it apparently but I haven't noticed him. Ash had an early shot from a free kick but missed and has done F all since.
