VFL Round 15

I watched the second half and Allan looked like he had what we simply know as a dirty day. He just had one of those days where no matter what he did, it didn’t come off. I’ve watched a fair bit of VFL and the one word I’ve always used to describe him is “ creative “ and a more of a link player than showcasing any match winner attributes. What we do know is that he’s a super athlete who dominated the Combine and according to Fly, is the fittest at Collingwood. Obviously that’s no guarantee to becoming an AFL player but i wouldn’t be judging him from his couple hours work today.
I think we also have to be a bit more tolerant when we start expecting more from these “ first round picks “. MacRae and Allan were both #19, so we’re starting to head into speculative territory already when we’re talking national drafts. Technically DeMattia was our first round pick and he was #25. At #25, should we really have great expectations.

DeMattia was too, you're right.
Ive started watching more VFL lately and enjoy watching the youngsters and their promise so Ill keep an eye out for Allan.
Nothing wrong with putting work into him and watching him develop.
I guess having 16 odd players injured doesnt help with team morale and having real time pressure on playing spots in the team.
Would love to see him get another crack at the seniors this year... along with
Jiath, Long and Parker when he comes back.
Very encouraged by Harvey Harrison, great news story !!

Agree with this. It’s frustrating for fans but sometimes I think clubs cut players too soon and with players in the 11-30 zone especially it’s still a significant investment and maybe more patience is needed. We can’t keep delisting every draft pick, if there is something to work with, it may pay to do the hard yards. I was still baffled by the delisting of Ruscoe.Pies2016 wrote:^^^

I'd love it too Big T. My worry is that each time he's been selected in the seniors this year he has lacked all energy and genuine competitiveness. Maybe there were things going on in his life which impacted his mental preparedness to play aggressive tough footy, and if so, let's hope he is in a much better state of mind now. One thing we all know, is that he is equipped with an exquisite skill set. With Checkers now out, this could be his chance to prove his worth and cement a spot.Big T wrote:Gee I would love to see Ash comeback from his clear mental struggles this year. He seems like such a down to earth and basically good person deserving of success. Hope he lights a fire within himself for this backend of the season.
