Re: Nick's Brownlow?
So want Nick to take home Charlie but there as some strong contenders in The Bont ,Cripps and even Neale has been on song
If the boy wins it’s against some top players
If the boy wins it’s against some top players
I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
I'd love to see Nick get Charlie, but I just think the anti-Collingwood vote among the umpires will be enough to give it to Cripps or Neale.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
Nick just won the Triple M player of the year, Apparently, at least according to the crew, every year except 1 the winner of that award goes on to win the Brownlow. The exception was Luke Darcy.

Sheesh... That "prick from the Bears" was robbed of a Charlie by Carlton's QCs. Remember?

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
There are plenty of players in history that should have won a Brownlow in a certain year. It's never a certainty.
Chris Grant and Jason Dunstall could consider themselves unlucky not to win it with a couple of close finishes. As well as West and McLeod. Bont I think was unlucky the year Wines won it. Daicos unlucky last year. And Cripps very lucky in 2022.
Bucks and Swan at least got 1, but both could have won a second medal at some point. And Pendles will be the highest vote getter without a win.
And of course, I would have loved it if Graham Wright won it in 1990. Came 2nd by a vote, and to one of the dirtiest players in history.

Swan also robbed in 2010 by maggots. i.e "3 votes: C.Judd" farce, equivant to "Crippsgate" a couple of seasons back...Presti35 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 11:37 am There are plenty of players in history that should have won a Brownlow in a certain year. It's never a certainty.

And those dickhead maggots, 10 season later in 2000, gave too many of Scott West's votes to that putrid little shit kicker instead, thus gifting Woewoeful his charity Brownlow.
Buckley should have won it outright in 2000 anyways. Total fiasco.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
If you listen the idiot commentators Cripps will win with around 600 votes !
Listening to them call him the soon to be 2 time Brownlow medalist is making me sick
I’ve seen a few predictors and most have Nick winning with anywhere from 30 to 34 votes
Not 1 had Cripps winning it (Bont had 2 Neale 1)
So saying that Cripps will win for sure the umps love a good story

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
^ But are they holding a grudge from his win a couple years back? When he should have been suspended? Maybe not as they gave him the 3 (and the win) in his last game of the year.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
But he wasn't dirty in 1990.
Sad story. The doco Year of the Dogs follows WB in the year Joyce was sacked and Wallace put in (1996). It shows them putting a line through Libba. Libba did what he needed to do to remain on the list. That's when he changed: 1997.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
Market really tight now. Most books have Nick & Cripps at $2.50 a piece.
Ladbrokes has Cripps a smidge shorter @ $2.40.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
Watched this not long ago. Libber ends up playing until 2002. Unreal.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
Watched it around time of release, I guess.
How times change, huh? Wonder what Players' Assoc. would say today about players putting on a soft-porn show to raise $$$ to keep the club afloat.
Joyce comes off badly. Can take a great team, Haw., and win an easy flag. Can't rebuild a struggling team. Sometime in the doco he tells the players he'll keep "turning over players" until they perform. How does that help? The players weren't good enough. Just yelling at them doesn't improve their skills. Attitude wasn't the problem.
The heroes of the doco were the two old lady supporters.

Re: Nick's Brownlow?
^ yeah the older one saw the Dogs finally win it in 2016, but passed away a couple years after. I would have been interested to see a follow up doco after they won in 2016.
