^ I think Ginni may have missed out if Adams was available. But I guess Lipinski was the sub.

Adam Treloar had a good night at the Brownlow. Finished with 26 votes and 7th overall. After his AA season, I wonder how many supporters would love to take him back for a year or 2?

Whatever Sydney is paying that midfield they should double it
Fancy having to carry that 100+kg spud on your back while winning the game despite him
Seriously anyone who watched Sweet completely dismantle Grundy was quite sad to watch and enormously embarrassing for Grundy if he had a shred of integrity in performance
...
If Syd. win, Heeney will have put in one of the greatest finals series since Ablett's '89 series. Heeney of course is fave for Norm Smith.

Earlier this year, media were raving about Heeney-Warner-Gulden being one of the greatest midfields of all time. Matthew Lloyd compared them to WC's 2005-6 and Brissy's 2001-3.

And Barrett seriously asked whether they could finish 1-2-3 in the Brownlow. (Surely, impossible, right, when they'd be taking votes off each other??)

Was wondering something different. How many players have played in premierships at two different clubs in successive seasons? Can't imagine that'd be a long list either!

But Ginni couldn't help himself and gifted Port ammo... Finally paid for his hubris. Eddie on Footy Classified before the Port game said it was like "going back into the lion's den to get your hat". He'd already got away with faffing about in a pub the night before a game. Eddie said he "put himself and potentially his teammates in danger". (Hawk ex-players didn't like it either. Dunstall talked about "risks". Hodge stressed "it was a pub, not a restaurant".)

Ollie put in the best finals performance of the year by an ex-Pie (in Geebung's PF loss). A big loss for us. He's prolly the best player to leave Collingwood for another club since Treloar. Folks keep talking up Ginnivan being "very young". But Ollie is almost the same age (about 6 months older). And Ollie has huge upside. Dunno whether Ginni has.

In recent news, Ginnivan got the 3 Brownlow votes for pile-driving Wright’s call right back where it hurts.
Lucky Collingwood didn’t narrowly miss the Finals or, you know, you could be pretty f%#^ing angry at the Club for emptying out one of the few players on the list under 35 who could play AFL-standard footy.

Give it a bone. Watching the lions destroy Sydney today with precocious young talent and yet u didn’t see Lohman or Wilmot rubbing it into oppos faces or over celebrating every goal with some rubbish new routine.
Ginnivan is a joke and a flog who is no longer at the pies so let’s move on!

I wonder if Adam’s will go around next season ?
His body has been cooked for a couple years unfortunately
Who would be favourite to sign Grundy if Sydney delist him (which they can do they only took his contract over 1 season) Melbourne took over his contract from us with 5 years remaining but Sydney took 1 year with option in there favour of 2 more years
After yesterdays disaster it’s highly likely they’ll either (a) go the Richmond path and not play a recognised ruck or (b) go snd trade for or draft a ruck
It’s obvious Grundy’s style of ruck work doesn’t work for Sydney and didn't from around the half way mark of the season
Obviously Treloar Oliver and Ginnivan are certainties to go around again

Why would they trade Thor? He's the only one who turned up to play yesterday. He might ask to be cleared so he doesn't have to front up with that embarrassing rabble again, I guess.

As for Adams, who cares?

Adams, Treloar, and Grundy all request trades to the Lions, I can see it now. :P

Grundy already starred for Brisbane yesterday with at least 5 goal assists, so it’d be a good fit for him. Plus might be the only way to stop them winning another.

He may have starred, but against Brissies VFL ruck IMO he should have 'starred' more.

I never said they would trade Grundy
His contract is 1 year with Sydney with a option to pick up 2 more seasons
When Kinnear Beetson did the deal Sydney where concerned what Grundy they would be getting
Grundy backed himself to get the 2 year deal
Grundy is guaranteed his money either way.
If Sydney decide not to take up the option then Melbourne are on the hook for the remainder of his contract money (as I understand it he’s owed a little over $1.4 million over next 3 seasons as the first 2 years of the original deal he got $3 million of his $7 million and we then paid another $750k leaving Melbourne taking over the remainder of the $3.5m owed over the final 5 years)
Melbourne paid him $800k last season and this season and Sydney paid him approx $450k-$500k
That means Melbourne would owe him about $1.4m
Melbourne could then try and send his elsewhere and limit what they need to pay him.
Maybe say port could get him for $300k a season meaning Melbourne would owe him $500k over 3 years
Sydney might take up the 2 year option because he’s cheap but considering they had a massive go at getting Rohan Marshall from the saints it would appear Grundy wasn’t delivering what they expected or needed
As for him being the only one of the swans who turned up other than the final term when the lions where in we’ve won it so we don’t need to get injured snd ruin our after party Grundy was a large part of the reason the game was over after 3/4
He should feel as much embarrassment as the rest of the team after all it’s a team game not an individual game.
If your being honest you will concede that not only did Forte at a minimum break even over the entire game but when the game was on early he bested Grundy massively
Take the last quarter stats away and Grundy should be embarrassed to be bested by a VFL ruckman
I know you see the game differently than everyone else in the world but surely even you must admit Grundy’s inability to dominate a VFL ruck when it actually counted is disgraceful

^ Grundy was Sydney's best player - and their only one who turned up for the four quarters. He had a game high eighteen contested possessions, twenty-two disposals, seven clearances, fifteen hitouts to advantage, five score involvements, four intercept possessions etc etc, he actually thrashed his opponents. Unfortunately for him, his entire midfield chose the Grand Final to do their Adam Treloar impersonation.

Your comments are silly - Grundy was the only Sydney player whose performance was adequate to three quarter time.

Of his 22 touches he had 7 effective possessions so 33%
I don’t care about his worthless hit out stats and those contested numbers is a large reason they lost the game. You see his job is to hit the ball to his skilful mids not drop it at his feet and jump on it and use his weight to get a scrappy kick or handball out which created turnovers hence why his effective disposals are appalling bad
The midfield wish they could play like Treloar (just go look at the 2018 GF stats)
Majority of the posters here and other forums including a large proportion of swans supporters didn’t rate Grundy’s game at all.
Finally using champion data stats for that game alone Grundy was Sydney’s 9th rated player which is quite a achievement considering he’s now rated the 386th ranked player in the game
Those swans who finished infront of Grundy on champion data (the data used by every club and coach and media outlet to give accurate data on player performances) where
Warner
Parker
Rowbottom
McMartin
Hayward
Florent
Jordan
Heeney

Good luck to Grundy. There is hate for him for not taking a $200k pay cut... for whatever. We stuffed up the salary cap. We decided to pay him overs on a long term deal. We could have easily traded him. But 3-4 years after we traded him out and won a flag... and still... somehow if he underperforms we feel better about the 'trade'.

We won a flag. We have Cameron (ironically from Sydney).

Grundy played well and would have played better had he had someone, anyone, backed him up. Gulden, Heeney, Warner... this falls on the shoulders of the players that were there in 2022.
Adams would have performed better than many.
