Surely Mason Cox can use his Texan background to lure Houston?

We got lucky now because Melbourne was in the mix for a deal for #13 and have now got #9 which stuffed the Roos who were trying for #9 for Houston.

Houston has already ruled out Melbourne as a destination.

Be fascinated to know how many bidders are just trying to push the price up... Obviously you have to be preapred to pay the price if the roulette wheel lands on you, but I think other clubs will be looking at the Pies as being the most "desperate" (for want of a better word) given our all-in tilt for 2025.

If we end up just moving on Richards and Noble, we should get some trade currency back and someone else will end up paying full odds for Houston. That's probably not a bad outcome for us either.
It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

surely if we don't get Houston, then we would keep Noble, and i reckon keep Richards as well. No point moving them on for the sake of it

Houston, we have a problem...

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/roo ... 5khvo.html

"The Magpies, through fortune rather than necessarily good management, return to being heavy favourites to score the Suns’ No.13 pick... Sydney and the Western Bulldogs are among the other suitors for that coveted selection.
...

Collingwood do not have a 2024 first-round pick at this stage, and need Gold Coast’s pick to have a shot at Houston.

In their favour is that John Noble wants to play for the Suns, and fellow Magpie Joe Richards has requested a trade to the Power. Contracted Gold Coast forward Jack Lukosius has also asked to be traded to the Power, although sources have consistently told this masthead that deal would likely be separate.
...

The Houston camp have spent this weekend weighing up their options, and gaining the information they need before likely settling on a preferred destination."

We've finally made progress.
Here we go! We have movement. The Port/Pies/GC deal is taking shape. 🍿

Negotiations ongoing, but Rory Atkins (contracted for 1 more year) looks as if he's heading to
@PAFC
as part of the three-way trade.

Every chance Port receives three players and AT LEAST picks 13, 29 & a F3 as part of the wider arrangement, which is still being finalised.

It would pave the way for Houston to
@CollingwoodFC
& Noble + F1 to the
@GoldCoastSUNS
https://x.com/tommorris32/status/1845691320700158288

There is still fine tuning involved but it would now surprise if Houston didn't get to the Pies. The deal is on track. Power will get 13, 29 and Lukosius. Suns get Pies, Port future first-rounders.

So that would mean Richards to Port will be separate trade?
