Isnt Brayden Shaw a midfielder...

Post by Di Di Didak »

We have some good young midfielders already in our system, i think we need a middle age player to bridge the gap between bucks/burns and b. & h.shaw, rowe, dids, brodie etc...

Brayden was hampered by injuries after starting to burn mid season for Willi, i think he can step up next year and be a burst player in the middle, like Cooney was at the Dogs...

He fairly quick, great footy brain, and good skills...

I dont think he is the answer, but i mean, we could do worse than give the kid a good go at it.

Maybe thats why the pies arnt too worried about letting go of McG, Obree (if it happens) and Rhyce... We have guys like Max, Rowe, and Shaws who are cmong through that will be givin spots in the seniors.

MM said Guy Richards, Rowe, Davidson, Max, C2 and i think Tex?? will be more permanent next year. ie they have their spots.

He will get a go early next year. I don't think anyone expected him to play seniors this season. He will end up being the better Shaw (if Rhyce leaves).

I've heard that since he was about 15/16, he's struggled to put 2 months of footy together due to finding every injury under the sun..

I mean he did his shoulder at training this year, didn't he?

Still, apparently he's a gun - captain of Vic Metro last year if I remember correctly.

Hopefully (if Rhyce does go) he'll get his Dad's number next year. :)

Other than the training accident that ended his season and resulted in a shoulder reconstruction, what other injuries did he suffer through the year?

When playing for Willi rreserves im pretty sure he had a groin/calf injury that kept him out for a few weeks.
He came back, played well, then got seniors call up to Willi around mid season... then.... see my last post

I beg to differ, and I have the pics to prove it.

Brayden played every game in the seniors except the last two, which was due to his shoulder injury.

I hope he isn't as injury prone as some say he is. How good do you think he'll be Dale?

It will depend entirely on how hw recovers from his shoulder reco.

He was playing some great footy b4 he got injured, but will have to battle amongst the ranks of the receiving midfielders if he is to get senior game time.

We need quality outside midfielders with a bit of zip in them. Other then the emergence of Rowe and no one else ,I dont see too much competition for him dependeing on recruits. Especially if we trade his cousin. We lack recievers/link players with polish.Oh for a Scotty Russell!!!

Brayden will be eased into the seniors not thrown in. Long term prospect not a short term fix.

No probs Woey.

The only one that is close to who you describe is Zane Leonard. He tore a hammie during pre-season, played his first game in the reserves in Rd6 where he aggravated it again, then returned, via the reserves, in Rd 13 before getting a run in the seniors for the last three games of the season.

It is due to his long term injury that he qualifies to play finals for the reserves.

Was Brayden a chance for a senior berth at any stage this year?
