Legally you cannot say, if someone did know and said it, they and the site can be sued. Remember back to when the story officially broke? Yahoo's AFL board was shut down and all content about this was removed.

Search it on google.com . We aren't at liberty to discuss it on Nick's BB.

Ignoring her would be a good idea, as for her going away I highly doubt it, I don't read anything she has written, nor have I seen any programs with her on.

So what happens if in the off season a player who is on two strikes is drafted by another club. Then in the pre season he is tested and fails his third strike. So before he plays a game he is outed. How can a club do its due diligence? Would the AFL interfere?

Interesting question. Not much clubs can do except ask prospective trades point blank if they have failed any drug tests previously. I would think if they did this, then at least it would give them some legal comeback if it emerged later that that player was already on one or two strikes.

Caro Watch

Post by Neil Appleby »

For the benefit and education of those contributers here with an irrational, deep-grained hatred of Caroline Wilson, I've decided to come to her rescue.

Yesterday Caro criticised her club....that's right....she criticised Richmond.
It was a broadside at the club runner; an ex Carlton player with a drug record. It was a direct criticism at the club hierachy and its mentality.
It is sure to be a talking point at Punt Road today.

She also won no friends at Princes Park over the summer; her reporting on the chaos at Carlton was instrumental in its restructuring. She also exposed Stephen Kernahan as the dick-headed bogun he really is.

A good journo needs to be accurate, opinionated and have good contacts.
What I like about Caro is that she will always go after the truth and the big stories regardless of the consequences for her popularity.

The AFL must wish she'd go away.
People who can't stand their club being criticised or held to account also bag her.

I often disagree with with her point of view and sometimes her timing.......but I really love her guts.

Everything you've said is true, but I'll tell you why I can't stand her.

Firstly, all she is interested in is denigrating players, clubs and the game in general. She always focuses on the negative. A balanced journo should be brave, courageous etc, but also generous and constructive.

Secondly, she has a pathalogical hatred of Collingwood, and in particular Malthouse and Eddie. She's certainly not alone here, but don't kid yourself that she is just concerned with getting to the truth. She is very selective in her criticisms. It's true that occassionally she will have a go at Richmond, but given how pathetic they've been for years, she has to, otherwise she'd have no credibility at all.

Well said Rude Boy, I like the generous and constructive sentiment, but do journos really have to be generous and constructive?

I reckon there are enough brown-nosing journos in the AFL ranks already.
We need people to 'out' the drunks, junkies and boguns masquerading as board members. Caro does it consistently.

And I think she is generous; she has a real love of the game and that's obvious.

PS My sister in law hates her with a passion and for the reasons you list Rude Boy!

And what's more, she tipped us for the eight (and the Roos for seventh).

I respect Caro, she manages to find the big stories.

The only one in the Age that tipped us for the 8...that's irony if I've ever seen it.
