change the general discussion requirements

Post by Cam »

currently it is

"Use this forum for footy topics that don't relate specifically to any of the other forums. For non-footy sporting topics please use Nick's Sports Bar and for non-sporting topics please use the Victoria Park Tavern."

That's all well and good, but the majority of posters don't visit anything other than GD. Great topics that have interest and give the BB its vitality are shunted off, yet others that have similar lines are not. I just think that if you have stuff that you want everyone at work to read something you don't pin it up in the men's dunnies.

I can understand the value of putting cricket & lacrosse talk in the sports bar, the value of putting nuclear weapon & drug-taking talk in the tavern, but i cannot see why BB talk eg posters, songs about posters, posting things, posting surveys etc are all shunted off to the tavern where only a few venture (eg the men's dunnies, or women's for that matter). It kind of defeats the purpose of what a bulletin board has always been about, since the 80s.

this would be nicer

"Use this forum for AFL or Nick's BB related topics. For non-AFL sports please use Nick's Sports Bar and for general & social issues please use the Victoria Park Tavern. During the Drafting part of the season please use the Draft & Trade Talk forum."

I agree, especially during the off season, in the regular season you could understand as you get so many threads anyway but during the off season some should be left

Understand the sentiment, but to be honest, I reckon the people who want to find something, will find it, those who don't find it.....you probably don't want their discussion anyway.

I like it the way it is. Though, I think there is room for tweaking.
