I notice with some other users, people don't care, when they make silly posts, but I think some others feel they've got a point to prove when it comes to this particular user. It seems the majority of regulars don't want that person here.

I would have thought this was a classic example of where the ignore function would be useful. If Eddie really s**ts you, I don't think your life will be made too empty by ignoring him.

Looking at the most recent thread (which presumably spurred this one), I really don't know that Eddie completely deserves blame for its 'derailment'.

Step 1: Eddie makes a fairly pointless but not really offensive post.
Step 2: Poster #1 attacks his credibility.
Step 3: Eddie gets angry and uses an offensive term to refer to his old sparring partners (none of whom post in this thread).
Step 4: Poster #2 starts laying into Eddie.
Step 5: Eddie tries to refer back to his argument in his first post.
Step 6: Poster #2 takes a deliberately provocative cheap shot.
Step 7: Poster #3 lays into Eddie.
Step 8: Poster #2 continues laying into Eddie. At this point Eddie is really not fighting back, but he is copping a shollacking.

And, it's on.
Eddie ended up getting yellow carded for his offensive language (which is fair enough), but apart from that, his posts in that thread were fairly innoccuous. It's almost as if his attackers were looking for a dispute.

Oh, and by the way, well after Eddie's left the thread, another poster has decided to take a cheap shot.

Yes, people derailing threads is a problem and in this case, at least two posters almost wantonly derailed the thread. Eddiesmith was not one of those.

I do agree with you David, but to an extent. I've seen this exact behaviour from him numerous times, and it does appear that this is his way of adding fuel to a small fire, because he knows it will annoy particular people.

I don't mind what ya write eddie. infact i enjoy reading your posts. Just try to be a bit more careful with what you post when talking about certain individuals.

Carlton baracking doesn't bother me, actually makes for some enjoyable reading sometimes.

Its important for everybody to remember all that matters in the end are we all have a love for Collingwood. And I know eddie doesn't show it all the time but his been here long enough that he deserves some respect.

I might get slammed about this but hey just thought id put some support out there for ya eddie.

Thanks fave2006, unfortunately it seems everyone has been brainwashed by this crap about me not supporting Collingwood, oh well, it probably says more about those people that they can fall for such a stupid vendetta
