okay, seems like the gremlins are either in my computer or in here........the pm button has disappeared and there are 2 profile buttons.....although you hover your cursor over the one on the right and it says it's the private message button.

Looks like it's just you. What browser are you using?
I had a similar problem using a beta version of IE7 a while ago. I found re installing helped cure the ills.

I had to stop using firefox cos something got into it and it kept playing up. Even once I restored the computer settings and ran all sorts of virus scans.

I liked the dictionary option but too much trouble.

Jacqui, it's your computer by the sounds of it. Tried deleting Firefox, and starting again?

Firefox will have those problems if running in conjunction with M$. It is not a problem with Firefox, just a bug in the M$ code.

PP, you can't download IE7 because every time you turn on your pc, it sends a message to M$ that verifies if your O/S is legit. In fact, you'll find it's the same situation with any of the other M$ software you have installed (WMP, OE, etc,.) If it thinks you are using non-legal (pirated) software, it will prevent you from most of the available updates. You should receive a pop-up when trying to download an update, so make a note of the phone number to contact, ring them (M$ Australia), and see if they will re-activate your O/S. If not, they will also advise you if your copy of M$ has already been activated, and if it has, your are shit out of luck because they only allow one copy per machine.

Eerr...my copy of XP is not legit. And I've checked Vista and cannot be bothered.
Dale, you know there is always a work around for these products.
