As is the usual for us,Friday night footy means the radio first and then watch the tape next day with ads at a million miles an hour.
ABC gave Drew Morphett the night off so we cracked the champers.
Finally a broadcast that one could put up with.
Now for the game
Starts off with port going forward and the wrong Wakelin kicks the first goal.
Mum Wakelin is on a sure thing tonight,she is the only one who doesnt care who wins.
Scrappy sort of game,we work it forward Leon marks on the boundary and kicks a point.
then a bit of leon magic gets him another shot at goal,no result this time either.
Cloke comes in and thumps a ruck contest straight to a port player and they goal.
Our forward line is no good,already the folly of dropping cummings is costing us as we go down the flank so often they must have been told that the middle of the ground was covered in land mines.
leon gets a snap shot thru the middle from the same spot he missed the set shots and we are on the board.
Port then in the last 4 minutes of the quarter slam on 3 goals and just on the siren Licka is pinged for knocking the ballout of a players hands and gives away 50 and they get a goal to end the qtr.37-8 down at the change.
2nd qtr
After a few minutes Brodie takes our first mark inside 50 for the game but kicks a point.
then 7 minutes of the ball going in and out of our forward line for no result then Obree and tarrant both have easy snaps at goal with 2 points the result.
Boofa has had enough of this wasteful crap and marks 60out and kicks truly.
Another 6 minutes of hugging the boundary gets us nowhere,finally port break loose go straight down the middle and goal,so much for the land mines theory.
At the bounce Josh goes down for the night with busted ribs.

Port go straight down the middle again and Wakes gives away a free to Tredrea in the square and they goal.

Licka the gets a 50 penalty the same as the one he gave away and he goals.
To finish the qtr hardwick gets my nomination for best actor at the logies,taking 6 limp falls in 2 minutes.52-30 down at the half
3rd qtr
Burns starts us off with a shot at goal that is touched on the line.
MM has informed the players that there really are no land mines down the middle so we go straight down the guts twice in a row,leon marks one Licka marks the other 2 goals to us.
Lonie chips in to chop off a port hanball,passes to Bucks who kicks long and straight but is marked on the line.
Port go forward down the guts and goal.
Then a dozen hanballs eventually end up with Brodie snapping truly.
Things are looking a bit better now that we have found the middle of the ground,long bomb sees Roop mark 30 mtrs out and as is the norm for the night.he kicks another bloody point.
From the kick in port go forward and goal from a free against molloy.
We bomb it long and Roop marks again and thankfully he goals this time.
straight back forward we go and leon snaps his 4th sausage of the night.
Molly marks on the siren but is too far out to score.
On the bench are Boofa,Fraser,Wakelin and Mcgeough all injured so its going to be hard work to win this one.
final stand
Port start off and turn it over to tarrant who gives to freeza and he kicks another bloody point.
Rocca marks the kick in 60 out and sinks a long goal.
Eddie McGuire had an orgasm in the commentary box as we hit the front for the one and only time for the night.

Then as usual from the kick in port go forward and goal.
leon gets another shot at goal and of course he kicks a point.
from the kick in freeza gets a running shot at goal and a nother f#@%^$# point.
from this kick in of course go straight down field and dew goals again.
freeza is on the run again and looks like having a shot at goalbut spots mckee in the square and he marks strongly and goals.
Port get a point as we rush it thru,Bucks kick in is a shocker and the turnover gets another goal to port.
1 min 30 to play we are 12 points down.

58 sec to go,from the bounce we go forward and Rocca marks 40 mtrs out.
siren about to go Rocca kicks a point just like all his team mates have been doing all night, we lose by 5 points.
A game that was there for the taking but it was a case of wasted opportunities.poor decision making and a bit of bad luck with injuries and umpiring.
to play that badly and go down by 5 points is something i suppose but i think if cummings had given us a target all night instead of being up in the box with mick it may have been a different result.
we lost it in the first half by going flank all the time.

Another good report Ed, pity about the first qtr. all our loses this year have had tres ordinaire 1st qtrs. Plenty of time to get that right for next week. Glad to see the old never give up spirit is back at Vic Park too.
