Apologies especially to Nick Maxwell, Dane Swan and Shane O'Bree, who really lifted in the second half - a great rebound from his previous week's shocker against the Saints.

I'm normally wary about automatically giving votes to youngsters when they first make an impression, but after watching the game again I find it impossible not to give the three votes to the kid I'm dubbing the SS Express (TM). Although he obviously had potential, he hadn't really impacted on a game until now.

Steele's performance against Adelaide, however, left me slack-jawed with awe, particularly in the third quarter with his disposal by both hand and foot under extreme pressure. And this in his first finals game. He is a stunningly good player, and our recruiting in the last two years, right down to Leigh Brown, has been outstanding.

Cameron Wood is really beginning to show what he's capable of, too. Like others I thought he had a big say in the second half.

But Steele Sidebottom ... wow. Neither of our next two opponents will want to give him too much leeway.
