It was delelted becuase I took offence to it. It wasn't so much the attack on Langer that I didn't like but the attack on the AUstralian fans that I yook offence to. I happen to be one of those AUstralian fans that goes.

SUre I don't sing , but thats my right and a right in Joffas post that was given no respect at all.

It was an unjust attack on the AUstralian cricket fan. I dont have problem with people singing but when I pay my money then I have the right to sit there and politely clap if I want to, that deserves some respect.

By the way I think what the Barmy Army is wrong, it's the biggest slur in the game to be called a chucker and I think its out of line for the Barmy Army to do so to Brett Lee.

Until recent Ashes series in Oz we haven't had to suffer the constant noise that is present in a home series in Sri Lanka, South Africa (where the crowd seems to sing the same, mind numbing, boring song ALL bloody day) and the West Indies.

The Balmy Army would be great at a soccer match or an AFL game or any similar sport that is played at such a frenetic pace. The nature of these games is entirely different to Test cricket.

The constant singing from the Balmy Army would completely spoil a day's Test cricket for me unless I could be guaranteed a seat at the opposite end of the ground.

Each to his own but I think maybe Joffa and JLC are confusing the B.A. with an AFL cheer squad. There's a big difference.

I totally agree Donny. You don't see the Barmy Boofheads at Lords do you? That's because they are not allowed to carry on like that at Lords. They are an absolute pain in the arse with their constant soccer style chants.
Maybe 120 minutes at the footy would be tolerable, but Test Cricket goes for 7 hours a day, and is a totally different sport, bereft of the frenetic pace of a footy match.

Well there we go it only proves we all have different opinions and whilst it is my opinion that aussie cricket fans are wankers i respect your opinion in shit bagging the barmey army, however i will not demand you remove your comments and i dont have the right to ask you to.

I do believe you have crossed the line as moderator and duly hope you lift your game.

Langer was wrong to cry baby to the press FULLSTOP. a very intersting article in todays paper was in full praise for the barmey army and made langer even look a bigger dickhead.

Drunkeness, fights, throwing missiles at other spectators, dirty vile language as compared to a large group of people having fun, chanting singing and just enjoying life and sport...yep give me the good old barmey army anytime.

Well it seems the Australian cricket fans deserted their teams on the fourth day of the test in particular where they were out numbered at least 2 to 1 by the Barmy Army.

Its great how the Barmy Army just sings and has a good time and don't cause any troubles. I don't see any golf balls being thrown onto the arena ? I don't see any flares being lit ? I don't see objects being thrown up in the mexican wave ? The cricket would have been dead boring had they not added their colour and atmosphere. So what if they make noise and have a good time. Why should they have to sit their and golf clap?

It seems that it was ok to poke fun at Murali when he had allegations of throwing levelled against him? Im sure the Australian cricketers would have sledged the hell out of Muralitheran when came out to bat. The Australian cricket fans also had a grand old time making fun of him.

What goes around comes around.

The difference between your post and mine Joffa was that I posted in a non offencive manner.

I dont care if you like the Barmy Army or not.I took it off only coz you were abusive to the Australain cricket fan.

Interesting point made in the papers today. The Steve Waugh snick - the one the England players didn't appeal for - was not heard by the players OR the umpire because of the noise coming from the Balmy Army!

May I put some of the above comments into perspective?

Clearly, those with opinions against the Balmy Army are not saying it's better to have yobbos throwing stuff onto the field or lighting flares or any of the minority bad behaviour that was mentioned by those in favour of the B.A.

A Test match is an enthralling drama, played out, ideally, over the best part of 5 days. Test matches and limited overs matches are quite different animals although there are obvious similarities. I stated, above, that I would vehemently dislike being anywhere near the B.A. at a Test but I'd be quite happy to sit with Clokey and the B.A. at a one-dayer. It'd be fun.

I'd also like to pose a question. Haven't we all, at some time or many times, said something in the heat of the moment that we later regretted? I refer to the subject in the heading of this topic. Alfie showed his good sportsmanship by his apology to, and having a bit of fun with, the B.A. He had played his guts out for his country and his emotions probably got the better of him when he made those comments.

Joffa and JLC are passionate and emotional fans of the greatest footy club on the planet and bloody good on 'em. We need fans like you two and the cheer squad is better off for you being in it but not all Collingwood supporters are exactly like you two blokes and not all Aussie cricket followers are like the few idiots who come along to a Test just to cause trouble.

Happy New Year to ALL my fellow Magpie diehard supporters!!!
