Brett Lee

Post by Hanskies »

Me and my brother were having an argument yesterday, I was saying that Brett Lee deserves to play for Australia coz he's a talented bowler not just coz he's quick, but my brother was saying he's ONLY there coz he's quick.
What does everybody else think?

You don't get to play for Australia if you have no talent, but in saying that, I reckon it's mainly because he's quick. He lacks variation and rarely swings the ball.
No bowler on earth gets more excited about bowling a number 10 or 11 batsmen- whoopee!
He needs to get more in his armoury than a yorker and a bouncer, if he was to concentrate more on line and length, rather than just sheer pace, I reckon he could be great. He would still bowl at 140-145km/hr and that's still quick enough to do batsmen for pace.
If he has been given a licence to bowl as quick as he can, just to intimidate the batsmen, then he has my apologies.
BTW he can handle the willow pretty well too, so that helps!

stuck up wanker! might i say, dont like him at all, sure he might bowl fast but goes for too many runs and shouldnt play in the world cup, he could help the opposition get there eye in, atleast take off your gold chain when your bowling u wanker!

Brett Lee is over-rated and gets hit for far too many runs in the one day game. Most of his wickets are trembling tailenders not gutsy top oredr batsmen who know that the faster it comes to you the harder it hits the fence!!

Like some have said- you need more than an inaccurate bouncer and inaccurate yorker to be a great.

If he bowled like Glen McGrath at the pace he bowls at he would be the greatest ever. He is a stereo-typical fast bowler - dumb!!!

It's puzzling what happened to Brett Lee.

He burst on the scene and was great for cricket. Had an amazing strike rate early in his Test cricket career and looked like he absolutely LOVED playing the game and taking wickets but of recent times he's been playing like a bully-boy and it's not a good look.

Maybe (as has been suggested) he's been told to take this role by the captain and/or coach and if so, I'd excuse him.

Finally Brett Lee delivered the goods and his place for World Cup is now assured. Nice to see his bowling some slower balls and some attempted yorkers.

I would use Brett Lee as the "all rounder" as he is quite a good hitter. Shane Watson looks like a fish out of water when it comes to big hitting.

i agree brett lee is soooooo over-rated. he is steve waugh's love child, always in the team and does nothing. he concentrates on bowling quick rather than bowling on the wicket. if he did less bouncers, less short balls which get smashed for four and gets wickets apart from the tail enders i will begin to respect him as a player. but at the moment i believe he should not be in the australian team.

Brett Lee is one million times better than his brother Shane. It amazes me how people could mention them as being similar in ability. All Brett had to learn was how to bowl intelligently. He has the perfect bowlers in McGrath and Gilesspie to learn from.
