Quite honestly, I wouldn't worry myself about that.

Is that your final answer? We have never talked about it before.

Wow, this question rang the phones off the hooks

It was David Cloke. In recent years I reckon his management of his 3 boys hasn't helped any of their careers

Am I still bitter and twisted about him and his autograph denying ways? God, get over it already

Trivia question

Post by David »

What was Collingwood's last match in which no currently listed Collingwood players took the field? Half a point for correctly guessing the year.

(If you want a clue, there are two answers to this … depending on how you interpret the question!)

Round 9 2006 or Round 18 2006.

Or if we're getting technical, Round 22 2009.

Depends on Pendles or Sidey?

Round 11 2008 vs Melbourne though Lynden Dunn was playing for Melbourne that day.

Round 19 2007 vs Richmond if you don't include any currently listed players for Collingwood playing for either club that day.

^ Correct on both counts! :)

For anyone who's curious, the team that lined up in round 11 2008 was:

B: Heath Shaw, Shane Wakelin, Tarkyn Lockyer
HB: Martin Clarke, Nathan Brown, Harry O'Brien
C: Ryan Cook, Scott Burns, Rhyce Shaw
HF: Leon Davis, Shane O'Bree, Travis Cloke
F: Alan Didak, Chris Bryan, Paul Medhurst
Foll: Josh Fraser, Dane Swan, Dale Thomas
I/C: Nick Maxwell, Sharrod Wellingham, Ben Johnson, Shannon Cox

Pendlebury was originally named, but ended up being a late out for Cook. Reid was an emergency.

Interesting mix of 2010 premiership players (10, or 11 if you count Davis) and Malthouse-era players of the early 2000s. Everyone listed here had left the club by the end of 2016 (last ones out the door were Brown, Cloke and Swan), so if I'd asked this question three years ago the answer would have been the same!
