A lot of differing opinions here
I posed a question a week or 2 ago and never really got a response

Ask yourself this question
If Grundy is such a highly rated ruckman and seen as so valuable why wouldn’t clubs like Hawthorne or North or St Kilda all be chasing him ?
They all have no recognisable ruck who is going to be around more around a year from now
They all have cap space and Grundy would suit there age profile (not too old but enough experience to be a role model for younger players)
As I said several times there’s more to this story than a pure salary cap dump

Anyways it’s a done deal now

Good luck Brodie thanks for the efforts over your time with Collingwood

Varying reports from $150k to $300k
I doubt we will ever know the exact truth Jojo
The club won’t say and the media will onky say a amount that makes it a story

Whilst I dont know about any unrest, the point that no other clubs wanted to haggle over him, explains why we only get pick 27.
Could have been as simple as the amount of $$ we stupidly paid him..

You’re right: Grundy would have been a great fit at Hawthorn but they weren’t ever interested it seems. At the same time Grundy obviously has a lot of strengths. We missed that in the last final.

It just appears on face value we’ve been dudded. Like to know the whole rationale and the specific details.

Anyway it’s done.

Next.

Mate only story I know of Grundy was one of a couple players called out after a match in a team environment
Apparently he didn’t like it
As I said at the time he is a different cat and maybe he should have been handled differently but he wasn’t singled out and for whatever reason we are now here
Oh well no use worrying about it now he’s a Melbourne player

There was the “talking around corners” to oust Bucks and Sando stuff. Then told same thing by new coach that he needs to make more effort to bond with the midfield group. He’s a different cat and I respect that, but for flag success every player needs to be focused on the same page, not reading different books. No slight on Grundy, he’s a cool cat, it’s just the way footy is. Injuries didn’t help this year

Yep I asked that too.

And the fact that we didn’t really haggle at all and just accepted 27 suggests we couldn’t be happier with getting rid of him

And I see people saying we have traded him in his peak, his peak was 2018-2019, that’s a mile ago in football terms

Can’t see him regaining 2018 form after his knee injury and now that he’s at Melbourne I hope he doesn’t prove me wrong ;)

We haven’t been bent over today.

We were bent over when he signed the new contract, it’s just come to the surface today
