Believe it when Deal is Done and/or hear from Mayne.

Wasn't Kruszer a Done Deal same time last year?
Many years ago Lockett to Collingwood was a done, signed and delivered deal....

That is not necessarily the case if Brown goes to Norf. It means we would not be compensated for Brown
Will probably get Wells as well, so with the formula probably wouldn't get anything for Brown anyway.

So you think Daicos and Brown are going to be instant coffees of the highest quality next season? Seriously, why does a delusional, forever negative, illogical, irrational and demented bloody poster like you post here? It is to get a rise out of people so that you can crack a fat, CC?

The question clearly asks about a 4 year period which is what we have reportedly offered Mayne.

How do u construe having faith in DeGoey Daicos and Brown to hold down a position in our forward line into a negative view?

Your last line is just sad and pathetic and verging on sick.

Daicos and Brown are like 17 years old. They'll be well past their peak at 21-22...riiiiiiiiight.

Hopefully people wont misconstrue the fact that by having both experience and youth at the one club it only adds to getting the right formula to win a flag.
Experienced heads to guide the youth and boundless energy to revitalize the older players.
Remember its great to have competition for spots. No one is "taking" someones spot.
If you are in the squad you are in the squad, the rest is up to you.
I love the fact that maybe we are having a tilt at the flag in 2017.

I don't rate Mayne - I have a had a lot of faith in he and Freo and watched them a lot.

Mayne is more likely than not to be past his best already?
Id rather take your DalSanto, your Lonergan, your Bartel types on 1 year deals to plug some holes, help the kids, hand over some IP, assess our culture etc.

I think it is freaking very sad that we offer an ok 28yo a 4 year deal, whilst Brown Blair and Goldsack look like they may walk out rather than sign contracts with us.

How many games had Peter Daicos, Gavin Brown played by the time they turned 22?

How about Sidey, Treloar and Adams?
Someone name our best 22 top-4 side in 2019 with Mayne, Brown Daicos and DeGoey in it.

In 2019 Mayne will be half way through a lucrative 4 year deal.
This is same logic as the Greenwood trade.
Are these the type of player we should be targeting to be best 22 in a flag year.

All I hear from the pro Mayne camp is we lack experience, good depth, we lack defensive forward pressure etc etc.

When we are recruiting I wanna hear hell yeah, very clever - that blokes a gun!

Always thought Mayne was very much helped by the fact Freo had 2 gun small forwards playing next to him.

Having said that his tackling stats are very impressive for a forward.

Reckon they could give us Walters instead :)

One bad year doesn't define a player. Go to his 2012-15 years and you will see a player who moves well, can take an overhead mark and is an accurate kick.

Now go to his 2016 year. Playing as a defensive forward when the ball isn't coming down to your forward line isn't going to help your confidence. Slowed down towards the end of the season when he was moved down to the half back line where he did well.

The question mark is on his pace for next year. Some players retain their pace (Brett Harvey) while others lose it (van Berlo). Depends a lot on injuries and how long they have played for. No reason to suspect that Mayne has lost his pace, but we'll find out next year.

Was a liability just hanging on in 2015, accuracy was shot to bits.
What are you suggesting - we going to play him at HB?

Im not saying he is a dud. Mobile leading forwards who can mark and kick straight have value.
It is possible he could recapture his 2013 form for a few years with a fresh start, good coaching etc etc.

But we are about to sign this guy on "lucrative terms for 4 years" when he seems to be on the decline.

The guns are those players you recruit in the top 10 picks in the national draft. Other than that you trade away 2 top 10 draft picks for a gun (Treloar), or you fluke a gun or two with lower down draft picks, which the WB have done.

Tell us all what you would like to do to secure a gun for next year when we don't have a top 10 draft pick. Greenwood was the equivalent of a second round draft pick who broke his leg last year. Whether you like Greenwood or don't (looks like you don't) he's better than the players you lament losing this season (Toovey, Macaffer and Brown if he leaves). Mayne who you also don't like is a better player than Toovey and Macaffer, so improves the list without costing us much.

Seems to any reasonable person, with what we are doing with our list management, in terms of recruitment of senior players last year and this year, a vast improvement over the early reign of Nathan Buckley, where we lost Dawes, Wellingham and Thomas for Lynch, Russell and Young.
