I wouldn't go that far. I do think it was more than necessary, but that's the culture we've created. We overpay and managers know it.

Hawthorn and Geelong are just 2 examples of clubs that rely on a team first ethos where players take less to stay and be part of something special.

Signing good players on OTT money then trying to dump them to save salary cap space is not how to run a successful club. Hopefully Wright and Fly can fix that culture.

Sleepy Hollow Geelong dont have a salary cap, cant have, to even contemplate De Goey is beyond belief, add to Hawkins, Cameron, Duckwood, Toohey, Dangerfield, etc etc it never ends, its not just player ethos, Cameron is on a bomb, its cooking the books, plainly. :o

Normally yes, but if GWS took on the full salary then that's worth not asking for more.

Yeah let’s get rid of Grundy for nothing, just stupid.

Yeah, I do trust those two, and the eminently mature and focused McRae in particular (don't know Wright as well as he keeps a low profile, but I certainly hear good things). I just don't trust our dim-witted, reactionary fans, always on the lookout for a scapegoat or children's story villain. One setback or disappointment and they'll be out spreading their contagion like flies at a barbie. Let's hope McRae and co. can hold back the tide of stupid and our administration shows some spine, because it will inevitably happen at some point.

Grundy will not leave. That is all.

Unless Grundy wants to leave, I am confident he will remain our number one ruck for the next 5 yrs. After the angst and anger caused by the debacle of the way our club traded Treloar a couple of yrs back, if we were to now seek to trade Grundy, I think it would signal to our players that contracts with Collingwood mean nothing.

When GWS is being mentioned as his likely destination it shows it is nonsense give their salary cap problems. So it won’t be them and I doubt anyone else as I can’t see the Pies paying any of his salary to play elsewhere like Treloar. If a club desperately wants him and pay his full salary we will probably get a packet of chips back which I can only see one person on here happy with.

The bottom line is Grundy just has to say no trade and the story ends today simple
This mess is of our own making hasten to say by the former regime
Signing a ruckman to 7 years at a million was a dumb decision
Million dollar players must be match winners not match influencers simple

When do we stop paying Treloar’s salary? Does that provide some relief to our cap so we can pay our current players?

I’m assuming that’s just your opinion. Coz if you have proof I’d love to see it.
Pretty sure Bucks didn’t sign the crazy contracts.
People are forgetting we have Graeme Wright not Gary Buckunara.

2025 is the final year of the $1.5 million in total. Bulldogs agreed to front-load his contract, which will give us some relief in our salary cap struggle.

All those wanting to trade Grundy will you be happy if we have to pay Grubdy to play for another club?
