It's just a play.
Brisbane and Daynes manager would have advised him to not attend the Copeland to help push along a trade.

The Beams trade will go through, we wont get what we want, but in the end both parties will be satisfied.

We're never going to get pick 4 AND a star.... how on earth does that make sense? If anything, it would more be something like Aish and pick 16 for example, for Beams - but pick 4 and a star? we're not dealing with idiots here... Brissy aren't Freo! :)

My tip is pick 4 and a pick in the low 20's for Beams.

I'd take that.....and use the picks on 2 potential young guns.

Beams is a star.

Mayes and Aish are just promising kids and nothing more at this stage.

Picks 7 and 14 from the Gold Coast if on offer would probably be better than 4 and 24 especially if Melbourne get pick 3 for Frawley and we don't have access to the "big 4" of the draft.

We need to stick to our guns, if a suitable deal can't be worked out Beams will remain a Pie.

I hear what you're saying but I think the ship has sailed in terms of Beams being held to his contract.

Rather lose him now for a bit less than he's worth than lose him for a lot less than he's worth next year.

The club needs to move forward and having Beams moping around the place isn't going to help.

Once the Frawley compensation is announced I think things will start moving for the pies in terms of wheeling and dealing for Lumumba, Beams and possibly Greenwood.

Well the first piece of the puzzle has now fallen.

What would you prefer Lumumba for pick 23 or Lumumba and pick 5 for pick 2/3?

If Melbourne aren't prepared to drop 2/3 places for Lumumba alone how about this.

Beams and pick 29 for Pick 5, 25 and Merrett.

Pick 5, Lumumba and Merrett for pick 2.

We lose Beams, Lumumba and pick 29 but end up with picks 2 and 25.

I think we have already told them we don't want Merrett or another tall defender. We need mids & I'm pretty sure we have told them so.

Of course we don't want Merrett but Melbourne have expressed some interest so I'm throwing up his name as a possible way we can go from pick 5 to 2.

It would have to be a 3 way deal between us, Brisbane and Melbourne.
