Quote - Browne, 66, said it was time for a “revitalised” direction at Australia’s most famous sporting club.

Let's see if he does win what 'revitalised' looks like.
I would think 'revitalised' means:-
1. The board refreshed
2. Buckley goes and revitalised does not mean Buckley stays and the assistant Coaches go - thats called bullsh1tised
3. What it means to Supporters and Members

Let's hope it's not a buzz word again and more spin like we hear at the After Game press conferences.

Let's see what happens if this is a famous sporting club or a benevolent club?

Whatever happens, all board members “appointed” (aka McGuire annointed) should “go”. All culpable by association. And failure.

Browne is a mate of Eddie’s but it’s clear to me that Eddie won’t have any influence on him as President if he gets there. He’s his own man. Browne needs to make that message very clear to the members and media ASAP or it could be a major problem for him.

Revitalisation has to include new coaches.

Three bits of advice for Jeff Browne to remember always:

1. The members;
2. The members;
3. The members.

Don’t make the same mistake that the administration of our club has made for the past couple of decades - don’t try to be all things to all people whilst leaving your core behind. Don’t make the club elitist while ignoring the people who own the club. Don’t just pay cynical lip service to the ideal of “our members are the best”. Don’t stack your board with people who have no real passion for the club but who view a seat on the board as a notch on the belt of their professional career.

It’s the members...

Browne needs to declare his position on the coach if an EGM is required as I suspect a lot of voting members will want that answered when considering who to vote for.

If Korda and Browne don't appreciate that the decision making process on Buckley will require clarification prior to any EGM then they really aren't very good at reading the mood of the supporters. If both Korda and Browne are on the same page on this issue (and will defer to Wright) then I don't really see a major point of difference between the candidates and I sense a lot of members wont be that engaged with the outcome.

If Browne is looking to oust Korda without an EGM being conducted in order to guarantee Buckley continues as coach of Collingwood then his instincts are different to mine because I get the real sense a significant majority of supporters (65-75%) are now in favour of change.

This will be the worst possible outcome.

If Browne becomes President, his biggest challenge will be uniting the different factions before anything else.

Sizer, Holgate and Wilson probably stay if a "peaceful" transition occurs.

Murphy, Licuria and Korda contributed to McGuire's exit and O'Donnell's appointment has caused too much angst among the members.

Jake Niall's piece in The Age
It’s on: Jeff Browne confirms Magpies presidency challenge

Former Channel Nine boss and AFL lawyer Jeff Browne has gone public with his wish to take over Collingwood in a bloodless coup.

Browne wants to replace Mark Korda as Collingwood president, with four of the seven-member board replaced by him and three of his allies. In Browne’s plan, three of the board members would remain.

Browne, who has already spoken to Korda, has said he would approach the Collingwood president with a plan for a transfer of power of the Magpies.

Browne told News Corp the four new positions would include himself “and three high-quality candidates”, and then he would seek the backing of the new hybrid board to become president.

Browne’s ticket is expected to include a woman and have directors with particular skill sets.

“In an effort to achieve change in the least disruptive manner, I intend to speak again with Mark Korda, to seek an immediate four vacancies on the board,” Browne told News Corp.

Browne said that, should his offer be rejected, he and his group would wait for members to force a spill of the seven-member board at an extraordinary general meeting.

“I am prepared to negotiate in good faith, which three members of the current board of directors are most suitable to contribute to a reconstituted board and some continuity of operational knowledge is desirable,” Browne said.

The long-time Collingwood member who organised the signatures for an EGM, David Hatley, said he would wait to see what transpired in talks between Browne and Korda before he and his fellow members made their next move.

Browne already has the backing of influential ex-Collingwood players Craig Kelly and Peter Moore, the father of current player Darcy Moore, and clearly has the support of his close friend, Eddie McGuire, whom Korda replaced as president.

“We’d be keen to see what happens between Browne and Korda,” said Hatley, who gathered enough signatures to call an EGM which could spill all seven board spots.

“We’ll see what plays out and make our decision.

“If Browne’s willing to have a fresh election (of the whole board)....it’s sort of the same (as an EGM).”

Interesting question who will stay and who will go.

I think Korda and O’Donnell should go but don’t know enough about the remainder to have a view.

I think the Board needs to get back to grassroots for all teams (men’s women’s netball etc) and make it a priority to become a members’ club again rather than some kind of ???

Browne is effecting a silent coup but has the EGM behind him so he appears to hold a winning hand.

I hope he is a good president as we really need a clear leader who is unafraid to represent the club.
Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal!
