If Licca's backstabbing led to the demise of Eddie he would certainly get my vote.

I'd just like to be asked occasionally and remind them they are supposed to be accountable to us.
Exactly - this is why an election is absolutely necessary - the board needs a mandate from the members as the club is supposed to be one based on democratic principles. I'm not fussed who wins and I will support the eventual winner but I want my voice to be heard through a vote! I've been paying my fees for 37 years for the right to vote and now is the time for loyal members like myself to be heard!

I am not impressed by the idea of one person suggesting he will pick his own team to take over our club's Board, without the members being asked to vote. FFS, this type of elitist cronyism is what has led us to the debacle we find ourselves in today.
The day's of corporate high flyers using our club as a play thing and a medium for business networking are over. One way or another there will be an election some time this year, where members will be given a voice.

Just read Korda will not agree so it looks like a EGM. So voting members will have a sayRudeBoy wrote:I am not impressed by the idea of one person suggesting he will pick his own team to take over our club's Board, without the members being asked to vote. Neither am I, but he did say if he were to be successful with his takeover, at the next AGM in Feb he would put all positions (including his own) up for re-election. At least he's being transparent in the process which is good.RudeBoy wrote:I am not impressed by the idea of one person suggesting he will pick his own team to take over our club's Board, without the members being asked to vote. [quote="think positive"][quote="Lazza"]The way I see it is that currently there are two main opinions on this issue. The first is that the only way forward is to sack Bucks and appoint a new coach. The second line of thinking is that Collingwood needs to retain Bucks but provide him with new assistant coaches for supportive roles and to provide different strategies, tactical advice and game plans. To me the least disruptive option is the second one but I feel that the most likely outcome will be the first one to satisfy those fans baying for the blood of the coach who ironically bled for Collingwood during his playing days and gave his all. I can’t see a compromise because of the vast differences between the two camps. Sadly it will signal end of Buckley’s involvement with the ‘pies, with the very fans who cheered him now turning their backs on him. It’s a shame that it has come to this because as Kevin Sheedy said today, if in the 2018 GF that last West Coast kick from the boundary had been a point, Bucks would have been a premiership coach. Such are the vague happenings in life Life’s a bitch and then you die.

Is recognizing a problem and then acting to fix it even "backstabbing"? Calling it "backstabbing" is "Eddiethink" where board members are all beholden to the so-called great man. Clearly Licuria is his own man. I would like to see him remain on the board, both as an ex player and as someone who is not stuck in the past in how he thinks. Brown wants him gone because he can't control him perhaps.makri wrote:If Licca's backstabbing led to the demise of Eddie he would certainly get my vote.
Personally I'm not happy about this Brown coup, He's Eddie's boi and he is already showing signs of having the same leadership style as Maguire.
We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true.
In theory that's good, but in practice it allows a hand picked group to attain control of the club with all its means of communication, to entrench themselves in power and portray anyone else who may nominate for a Board position as a trouble-maker. This whole thing stinks to high heaven. I'm not impressed by either the Korda or Browne camps. What we need are some independent voices, who are Collingwood diehards, but are willing to challenge and question, rather than the Group Think mentality which is what you get when Board members are beholden to powerful interests. That's my beef anyway.mattdally wrote:Neither am I, but he did say if he were to be successful with his takeover, at the next AGM in Feb he would put all positions (including his own) up for re-election. I was reading elsewhere that Licuria is leaning towards Buckley not being renewed in contrast Graham Wright who's leaning towards renewing him.Gerry Cooper wrote:Is recognizing a problem and then acting to fix it even "backstabbing"? If Licuria isn't on the board under Browne, neither will Murphy. They're very closely linked due to their shared business interests.
