Hopefully, he will turn out to be Heath Shaw without the bad bits: 20 years old, nice/calm, dashing from the back, chasing down whoever...Go Pies!

You could be right MtG.

I don't care where a player was originally drafted. Swan, Rockliff and Gray are three fairly current players that best illustrate how a player can improve after their draft year.

2nd round players are all going to have some kind of issue. Murray's appears to be his kicking which, it seems, has been on the improve.

I think the negativity is far too disportionate to the reality.

We paid a second round draft pick to collect a third round draft pick.

At worst we lost second round pick per se but have gained a third round in any case.

Lets not overhype the extent of how good next years draft is purported to be. During trades etc we may end up with a second rounder next year: who knows.

The sky is not about to fall in because of a second round swap for a third round selection and a player that the club obviously sees potential & development in.

Has it occurred to anyone that he may be used as a defensive forward instead of a defender. He played as a forward up there too.

And seriously, I actually expected more from some of the " smarter " posters on here.
Wouldn't it make sense to at least have a look at the kid for a season.
Most of you have chosen to hang, draw and quarter him and the recruiting staff even before the preseason has started.
And ask any Geelong supporter what they thought of Tom Harley ( one senior game at Port ) when they gave up a third rounder to get him.
Not to many got that one right either.

A third rounder is a bit different to a second rounder and at least Harley had played one game. Hine has put the spin on about points and speed. No one is whinging that we picked up Sam. It is about the price! And he was bloody dear.
