We have a new leader in Adams, with Maynard not far behind, and Grundy and Pendlebury still well and truly in it (though the captain hasn’t polled in a while). A decent gap has opened up between those four and the next few contenders, with Howe still remarkably sitting in fifth despite having only played the first four matches.

^ The Captain hasn't polled in a while because he didn't play between round 7 (when he did poll) and round 12.

And, right on cue, there's the Captain with votes in his first game back!

Did some people just give Grundy 5 votes every time he stepped onto the field?

Thanks for doing this David. Much appreciated.

Wasn't Jeremy Howe flying at the start of the season!! That PCL really was a disaster for him , the team and the supporters. :(

Interstingly, not one Brownlow vote for him across those 4 games. It sure is a mid-fielders medal!!

The difference is that the Brownlow votes only go the best 3 players on the ground. Looking at the coaches’ votes, he wasn’t clearly top 3 in any of the first 4 games (though he was in the votes in 3 of those games). The game where he was arguably unlucky not to get a vote, the umpires gave 2 to Mihocek (the coaches gave Howe and Mihocek each 5).
